Photographing someone for the last time is the hardest thing. Let alone knowing you have to do that when it's someone who you are so close to. 💔 My step sister Caisha passed away 3 months ago, and I've been putting off posting her family photos because honestly, it becomes so much more real everytime I look at them. 😭
I've gone back and forth looking at my grid and looking at her post up next in the queue and it's brought me to tears everytime. But I am choosing to share it today. Because she deserves to be shared, honoured and remembered as the incredible, selfless, loving and caring mother that she was. 🤎
She booked these photos with me as a "just incase things went downhill fast". But was going through terminal cancer in her brain, horrible chemo, radiation, and other medical treatments that meant she felt horrible 24/7. So she was trying to wait until she felt better and "looked better". (Even though she was absolutely beautiful no matter what).
Caish knew she didn't have much time left. However "months" turned into days. And things went downhill fast. 😭 I delivered this gallery a day before she went into hospice.
I did a keepsake video up for her family too, capturing those last moments interacting with her 3 little girls, Kyla Harper and Maya, and her husband Pat. You can view it in the last slide. Her and her husbands wedding song plays in the background. Something that holds so much significance for all of the.
We couldn't move too much because Caish couldn't walk much and was in a wheelchair in the last weeks of her life, so I adapted to make it work. We did the session in their backyard. Things don't have to be picture perfect to be beautiful, and hold meaning. 🤎
Life is precious, and this is a huge reminder of the importance of photos and videos. This is one of the last remaining things of Caish. Something that her children and husband will hang onto forever. And something her parents will always hold close.
Photos and video are the only tangible things that remain once we're gone. Our legacy as mothers, parents, and our love for our children will always live on in those. So this is your reminder to BE in the photos and videos. 🥺
