Just had to post this before I go to bed. Drove about an hour North of Adelaide to this farmhouse to take some sunset shots (will post later). Added bonus - the aurora activity was huge, and I managed to get some great shots, even with some light pollution coming from the city. Worth the effort!!

Went for a drive through the Halbury/Owen/Alma/Hamley Bridge area last weekend. The canola crops are in full flower and I got some great shots. Here's some of the highlights. More to come

Went down to Brighton tonight to see if I could spot the Atlas/2024 G3 comet.
It was visible to the naked eye once the sky got dark enough

On the night of 1st-2nd January there was an amazing aurora that lasted most of the night. I left home at 11:30pm and drove down to Blanche Point near Port Willunga to see if I could get some shots.

It was well worth the effort with the aurora visible to the naked eye most of the time I was there. I stayed until 3:15am when the cloud started to roll in, obscuring the view of the aurora.

Sneak peek - On the night of 1st January 2025 the aurora was going off, so I quickly hopped in the car and drove to Blanche Point to get some shots. The aurora was constant for the 3 1/2 hours I spent there.
I took heaps of shots that I'm still getting around to editing. Here's one with plenty more to come when the editing is done.

On Saturday night I took my youngest son Patrick down to Marino Rocks to see if we could spot the comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). It was a bit difficult to see with the naked eye, but we picked it up on camera. Here are my three favourites from the night.
The fourth shot was taken from outside my house in suburban Adelaide on Sunday night.

So, on my fifth attempt at this location, I finally got the photo I've been planning for - the Southern Aurora over this ruined farmhouse. Took my son Patrick and he was over the moon to see an aurora with his own eyes for the first time.
