Nice to see a friendly face in the loco cab: MTA/MNCW 4901 (EMD GP40PH-3C) has just arrived in Port Jervis NY with a commuter service from Hoboken NJ on June 18, 2023.

This was to be my ride back to Glen Rock NJ after spending a wonderful weekend in Scranton PA and surrounds with wonderful friends from the railfan fraternity.

Contrasting Aromas as CSX loaded trash (garbage) train from New Jersey headed by #3286 emerges from a tunnel at Fort Montgomery amongst summer wildflowers in New York State in June 3023. The smell emanating from the train's cargo contrasted sharply with the natural environment.

A late running Aurizon 6MX1 led by RailFirst lease unit GL102 with former VR G535 rolls downgrade at Clapham with a good length train on March 22, 2025.

GL102 is one of 12 locomotives rebuilt by Goninan from ex-NSWGR 442 class ALCos with GE 7FDL-12 power plants and classified as a C30-MMi.

Overdue But Just In Time: After playing a half-decent game of basketball at the nearby State Basketball Centre in Wayville, I ducked out to grab a shot of the extra long and late-running 2MA8 the Overland at the Leader St crossing.
It was a very tricky proposition with all the shadows so a little luck required!
Thank goodness for burst mode capturing the front of the loco as it catches a slither of sunlight in the otherwise shadow-covered tracks.
Led by a dishevelled and rusty NR44, the 12 cars spread out along the length of the Goodwood Railway Station on Monday, March 17, 2025

One of SAR Commissioner Webb's finest on display at the NRM, Feb 2025.
SAR 4-8-4 steam loco 504 "Tom Barr Smith", one of Fred Shea and WA Webb's finest designs nicknamed "Palefaces" from their silver smoke boxes mimicking the Southern Pacific GS-2 locomotives. The 500-class locos were used to haul the Overland over the Adelaide Hills for 30 years.
504 entered service in 1926 and was condemned in 1962.
