The 1770 Festival returns this weekend across Agnes Water & Town Of 1770! Three days of music, markets, on-water events and family activities, free to the whole community.

We’ve had the pleasure of photographing and filming parts of the festival over the years, and it remains one of the most genuinely community-run events on the Discovery Coast.

A real thank you to the volunteers and to DCTC Inc.., who make it happen, year after year.

In the stillness before dawn, our community came together to remember.

This short video captures the beautiful display following the Anzac Day Dawn Service in Agnes Water & Town Of 1770.

From the volunteers who carefully created the displays, and the creative driving force Lucy Simmons, to the organisers, veterans, families, and locals who came together in the quiet of dawn to make this happen. A special thanks also goes to Philip for filming the displays.

We would like to share our tribute to honour the service, sacrifice, and spirit of the ANZACs, and all those who serve to protect our freedom, and a thanks to those who help keep that legacy alive each year.

It was a great experience getting to visit Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort and seeing first hand how well it operated as an eco resort in every sense! We also couldn’t help but notice and appreciate how well the staff were treated and everyone took pride in what they did. Thank you 🙏

You think you know the reef, try seeing it after dark!

This was my first night dive and I couldn't have asked for a better place to do it than at Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort on the most Southern of the Great Barrier Reef. Equal parts nerves and awe. 😬😱 The reef feels totally different after dark, quieter, wilder, and full of surprises.

Meet Philip, an original partner in the business, I now have to lure him out with ocean and filming jobs. Give him smooth clear water and he turns into a human otter! 💦 He casually shares what it’s like working here. ”[its great]...it doesn't feel like work at all!" (except when he gets sea sick - again! 😂)

One of our favourite places, this footage was captured around Heron Island, in the Southern Great Barrier Reef and taken over a few trips I was fortunate to experience.

Big on networking, I’ve been a member with DCTC Inc. since I landed in Agnes Water & Town Of 1770 in early 2020.

This was a such a great night for a more relaxed catch-ups while getting timely and important updates from our community and businesses. It’s has also been great being a new committee member in this phase of DCTC and having Alistair on board. Our town is growing and hopefully we can all play a part in keeping the essence of our welcoming town and community and its natural beauty and ecology! (Yes I’m a bit of a eco warrior and also volunteer to help nature where I can!)
