Ramsay Clan Update 🤍

So, to get straight to it… in 2027, the Ramsays are moving back to Sydney!

This is extraordinarily bittersweet. Over the last almost seven years, Dave and I have absolutely adored living in Albany. What we thought was going to be a rainy little retiree town has completely changed our lives. We’ve fallen head over heels for Albany, Western Australia and this beautiful corner of the country.

But the pull of family, and watching our niece and nephew grow up from the other side of Australia, has been getting stronger, and it feels like the right time for our little family to head back east.

Over the last six and a half years, we’ve explored untouched beaches, swum with whale sharks and turtles, adventured our way up and down the Coral Coast, taken in some spectacular views, spotted hundreds of whales, become part of a wonderful church community, bought a couple of dogs, made the most extraordinary friends and, somewhere in the middle of it all, had two incredible little boys.

(There will be a much gushier Albany farewell post at the end of the year, because I am absolutely not emotionally prepared for that yet.)

But for now, we are beyond excited for the next adventure ahead and for whatever God has in store for us. We’ll be returning to the city we both grew up in, this time with two little boys in tow, which feels both very familiar and completely new.

And, if you know me, you know I’m a forever-bubbly optimist l, so I’m heading into all of the unknowns with a whole lot of expectation and excitement for what’s ahead.

Albany, Denmark and WA, we are going to be so incredibly sad to leave you. But thankfully, this isn’t goodbye forever, we already know we’ll be back to visit again and again.

And to our Albany people: send me a text if we need to grab a coffee, have a beach walk, dinner, playdate or squeeze something in before we go, because I have a feeling these next four months are going to absolutely fly.

Anyway, that’s our little life update.

A small wedding can still be a very big deal.

Monique & Ben’s day was the most beautiful reminder of that.

Just 15 people.
Black tie.
Beautiful flowers.
A walk down the aisle.
Private vows.
And the most gorgeous, intimate family dinner feeling.

Everything about it felt intentional. Not rushed, not casual, not “just a small wedding” but a celebration shaped around what actually felt right for them.

There’s something so special about a wedding where every person in the room really matters. Where the conversations feel close, the vows feel deeply personal, and the whole day has space to breathe.

And honestly, I love that small weddings can still hold all the beauty and reverence of a bigger celebration.

You can still wear the dress.
Still have the flowers.
Still walk down the aisle.
Still go black tie.
Still make it feel elegant and meaningful and wildly special.

You just get to do it in a way that feels like you.

Trust is such a huge part of choosing your wedding photographer.

Claire & Todd booked me to photograph their wedding, and then lo and behold… I was expecting a little one on their wedding day.

Legit my due date.

Which, as you can imagine, is not exactly ideal timing when you’re meant to be photographing a wedding. But they trusted me. They trusted the process. And I took that trust very, very seriously.

I found a photographer who I knew would be the right fit for them. Someone I wholeheartedly trusted to be my eyes and feet on the day, so to speak.

And then I still worked my magic behind the scenes.

Their photos came back to me, and I edited, curated, and shaped the gallery with my own little secret sauce. The colour, the rhythm, the storytelling, the feeling, all the pieces that make a gallery feel like mine.

Because photography is more than who presses the button on the day.

It’s the vision.
The care.
The communication.
The curation.
The edit.
The trust.
And the ability to make sure your story is held beautifully, even when life throws a curveball.

And then to receive these words from Claire:
“Wow these photos are amazing, thank you so much! Thanks again for all of these, they capture the day so perfectly. I wish we could do it all over again haha.”

Honestly, that means the world.

May on the Fujifilm x100vi.

As a photographer, it can be surprisingly easy to leave the camera “at work”, to pour all that noticing and documenting into other people’s stories, and then forget to pick it up for your own.

But nothing makes you realise how quickly time is flying quite like your little one turning two.

So lately, I’ve been trying to capture more of the everyday on my little point-and-shoot. The ordinary magic. The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it stuff. The tiny hands, cafe visits, bike parks, party crumbs, cheeky smiles, and all the little pieces of life that somehow become the big things.

The Fujifilm has been living in my everything bag, and honestly, I’ve been loving it. It gives me the beautiful analogue feeling of taking photos with a real camera, no phone, no overthinking, with film recipes doing their sneaky little in-camera magic. Filmy-feeling photos, straight to my phone, ready to send to the people we love across the globe. No Lightroom required. Dreamy.

So, inspired by a few other creatives I love, here’s a little glimpse of May.

I’ll say it again and again…

Private property weddings just hit different.

And farm weddings? They hit different too.

Maybe it’s the wide open spaces. Maybe it’s the people. Maybe it’s because they’re usually planned by couples who care more about creating a beautiful experience than following a formula.

Whatever it is, I love them.

Zali & Ben’s wedding was the last one I photographed before heading off on maternity leave, and honestly, it was such a beautiful way to finish the season.

I still remember chatting with them before their wedding and instantly clicking. Hearing about the little bub who would be making an appearance on their wedding day felt pretty special.

Then there we were months later, celebrating them while I was quietly counting down the weeks until meeting my own little one.

A very full-circle moment.

Mostly though, I just wanted to share these photos.

No big lesson.
No hot take.
No clever marketing angle.

Just a genuinely beautiful day with genuinely lovely humans.

And if you’re here because you’re wondering what it might feel like to have me photograph your wedding, perhaps this is as good a glimpse as any.

A day filled with love, laughter, good people, country air, and all those little moments in between that end up meaning the most.

Honestly, that’s my favourite kind of wedding.

Already missing wedding season.

One thing I find myself saying all the time about this job is that I get to be part of people’s best days.

There are so many jobs where you meet people in the ordinary moments of life. Some where you meet them on their hardest days.

But me? I get invited into one of the most joy-filled, meaningful days they’ll ever experience.

And that is pretty flipping unreal.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of work that happens before and after a wedding day. The planning, the emails, the editing, the countless hours behind the scenes.

But the actual privilege of being there? Of witnessing it all unfold? Of spending a day with two people wildly in love and all the people who love them most?

I’ll never get over it.

Getting to preserve those moments for generations to come is something I don’t take lightly.

I don’t think all mums book maternity photos because they’re obsessed with being pregnant.

Most are tired.
A bit sore.
Ready to meet their baby.

But then the baby arrives.

And suddenly the season that felt so long is over.

The bump disappears.
The kicks stop.
The waiting ends.

And all that’s left are the memories.

Looking at these photos, I don’t just see a bump.

I see anticipation.

I see hands instinctively resting where they’ve rested for months.

I see the quiet moments before life changes forever.

The little details that feel ordinary at the time but somehow become precious later.

That’s what I’m drawn to photographing more and more.

Not just milestones.

The glimmers.

The things you’ll miss one day, even if you can’t imagine missing them now.

Hello there,

We’re emerging from what some would call the newborn bubble, but in true Holly form it has been more of a March to May madness. (But in the best way possible).

I’m still pinching myself that I’ve got two little boys who are absolutely gorgeous. And as an only child I am in complete awe and wonder of their brotherly bond that is already forming.

I’m also so grateful for all the slow morning, long walks, big hugs, warm cups of coffee, last rays of sunshine and most of all the love from friends and family.

I wish I could photograph every beautiful moment to hold onto forever, but I’ll store them in my memory and hold onto these little mementos we have 🥰
