Proof you don’t need all the bells and whistles for a perfect wedding day!

The classic surprise backyard wedding! All the same love and connection you get with a big wedding, minus the hustle and bustle, and their little man napping his way through a lot of it in the comfort of his own home in Hobart!

Hemi + Mitch surprised their guests at their daytime ‘engagement party’ and kept things fun, low key, and totally them 🥂🤍

The backlog of shoots I have to post is getting a slightly out of hand 😅

In between managing shoots, teaching across two schools, spending a day each week with my 2 year old pterodactyl (who I love to no end), getting in quality family time, and pottering away on the endless list of house and garden jobs; posting here just seems to take a back seat.

We’re almost one week down in the school holidays (what even?) and time is just slipping away but I’ve been loving being able to give more to this little business of mine this week; including booking 2 branding shoots, catching up on editing, a few new enquiries coming through, and working on some awesome back end business and branding (more on this coming soon!).

Lots happening, much to share. Watch this space! ✌🏼

I was there the morning these two got engaged. Sunrise in Rats Cove, Groote Eylandt, East Arnhem Land in the NT. A beautiful patch of paradise only accessible by boat. We’d taken them out on a little overnight camping adventure and as we pondered around in the morning we saw Gem and Matt walking towards us around the rocks, Gem waving a her hand with a shiny new addition 💍

I had just started my photogorahy business that year, so I asked if I could do an engagement shoot for them, we had the best time, and they ended up loving the photos…so much so that Gem asked me to photograph their wedding in Newcastle earlier this year 😱

I tried to talk her out of it, suggest other photographers. The self doubt was massive.
But Gem had her mind made up and said the alternative was getting guests to take photos with their phones 🫣
So we booked the flight (am I a travelling wedding photographer now? 😂).

40 degrees, full sun, a hired second body because my DSLR wasn’t going to cut it, a big learning curve and a magical day with mates, celebrating them.

It’s something special when two of your good mates book you to capture their wedding, knowing full well you have zero wedding experience. But I can’t thank these two enough for throwing me in the deep end 🧡

Okay. I’ve been wanting to do this for ages! One of my favourite things to do with my fam is pick fresh blueberries, so why not turn it into a fun photo op?

Im so grateful to be able to shoot a few mini sessions at !

Next week! March 7.

And I still have spots.

So consider this your friendly little nudge.

Running through the trees. Purple fingers. Chickens wandering past. A cheeky blueberry icypole.

Hamish gearing up to be the best big bro to two little munchkins!

I had so much shooting this for our Gathering Tide project at with and , and there’s so much more to share from it (last pic has a sneaky hint!).

We shared our visions, made space for each other to give ideas, prompts; it was pure magic.

Thank you to the wonderful .thedoula for hosting us in her gorgeous Airbnb and to who modeled perfectly and was up for any and all of our ever changing visions.

When family means everything, and it shows.
There’s something pretty special about grown kids still wanting family photos.

This crew came together from across the country and the globe for a Tassie holiday, and Lauren reached out to surprise them with a family shoot.

Queue the beer, finska, laughter, fun and golden hour. And in amongst it all, we snuck off for a few quick couple moments too. Lauren and Emma with their husbands, just a pause to soak it all in before jumping back into the madness.

All this within your 90-120 minute extended family shoot. How good!
