The un-edited version of taking photos for the ID of plant species.
This is Allocasuarina littoralis or Black sheoak.
I take as many photos as I can of the full plant, the bark, the flowering body, the leaves and any structures of the plant such as fine hairs on leaves or stems, or any specific feature at that time of the season. These photos generally dont make the cut for the page.
Did you know that sometimes to get the correct ID of a plant you need to go back in another season to take photos of flowers or seed pods etc to make a correct ID.
I am still learning, I would say that I am a beginner when identifying plant species. But I really enjoy the process of hunting, photographing and later using books and plant apps to help ID plants.
Can’t wait for spring. The wattle is out already.
