A trip up North for me, driving around the central coast and witnessing the absolutely beautiful scenery! Managed to stumble across a large flock of 30+ Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos feeding and roosting! Captured this cutie with the ocean in the background. Nothing better 💛🖤

🪿🪿Black-fronted Dotterel (Elseyornis melanops)🪿🪿

This tiny (16-18cm) wading bird is a hard one to spot! Especially along a rocky and muddy waters edge at the Hume Weir. These super cute birds eat a variety of small molluscs and terrestrial/aquatic insects and can be heard making a ‘tip-tip-tip’ noise 🧡 Thank you golden hour for this perfect shot!

🐊🐊Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus)🐊🐊

Had an epic encounter in Cairns! Saw this stunning ~1m Croc in the Daintree River. Notice the female March Flies feasting on its blood from its eyelids? The female March Flies need the blood for egg production. To combat this, Saltwater crocs use mud as a natural repellent. Isn’t nature wild!?

It’s a Flamin’ Galah! This gorgeous guy was watching over me catching absolutely no fish at the Hume Weir. The screeches and calls, alerted me to their nest in a hollow of a tall old dead tree (stag)- hopefully some chicks come from it!
Remember, hollows are extremely important to our Australian wildlife and typically only start to appear on eucalypts that are 100+ years old! Save our Hollows ❤️

An absolute wonderful surprise and a lucky experience when fishing out at the Hume Weir. This beautiful Pied Stilt wandered through the dam water feeding and not caring that I was fishing at all. Lucky to capture a rare(ish) visitor to the Albury/Wodonga region!
