Back in May when I was in Deniliquin visiting my parents, I was lucky enough to see parents of a different kind.
This beautiful wood duck Mumma was herding her bubba's back to the shore keeping a very close eye on them.
It was wonderful to watch them make their way back, under their mum's watchful eye, all creatures love their babies and want them to be safe, and it was evident this day watching this little family. Dad was close behind, calling out at times to his family, the ducklings making their little noises back to Dad.

I've been a tad quiet lately. As well as there being a lot of rain, my ducks and chickens were killed by a fox and I've been trying to build a coup and mourning the loss of my girls. Hopefully I'll start posting again soon.

I was lucky to see this gorgeous little poofy headed Speckled Warbler back in April. This was my first time ever photographing one and I haven't found one since.
I loved how spiky it's hair was and could imagine it in a little bird rock band.
This little baby was perched above my head as I sat on the ground underneath, I loved watching it hop around in the small branches and sing it's little song.

Finally got my first photos of Red-Browed Finches on the 30th of May.
There was about 15 of the little ones eating the tiny seeds in the grass, it was hard to get a clear shot due to the grass and the camera wanting to focus on the grass instead, but later a little fellow flew up in front of me for a couple of seconds, just long enough to snap a decent photo.
I do love the colours on these little guys and how busy they are when foraging for food.

I know that this isn't the clearest photo, as my lens really doesn't like the darkness of an afternoon or an overcast day....

But these two were too cute not to share, especially with the one little blue feather under his eye. It reminds me of a tear drop tattoo 😅
These were taken last Sunday quite late in the afternoon when the sun had disappeared for the day, so my 800 mm lens really struggled. I really need to get myself another lens soon.

Something different to birds, when out on Sunday, I saw these two shy rabbits hopping off, I do love watching them hop off with their little tails up in the air, and seeing that little white tail bouncing off into the distance. All I think of is the Peter Rabbit stories and what adventures they're up to for the day.

While out last weekend, this gorgeous little Yellow Thornbill was flying around and actually sat still long enough for me to get some quite decent photos.
I still can't get over how small these precious babies are, and they're not even the smallest birds that we have in Australia.
They have to be one of the busiest birds out there, always on the move, always fluttering around, never sitting in one spot for more than a few seconds at a time.
This little bub was sitting in front of me so close in a little water puddle having a bath, but unfortunately my 800mm lens does not do birds that are up close.

While up at Mount Ida, on the road where I had pulled over, I saw this little puddle on the road getting a lot of attention by the local birdlife.
When I was too close for photos with my lens (800mm), there was a Straited Thornbill having a bath, then later I saw this beautiful Scarlet Robbin enjoying his bath time.
All ptotos were from behind unfortunately, but still cute nonetheless.
It is so wonderful seeing them flutter and splutter around in the water, enjoying playing and bathing in their bath for the day.
What a life a bird has, what freedom... bathing in public though does come with it's....visitors 😅.... What I believe to be a female Golden Whister, decided to come and watch for a little while, and then fluttered off, not wanting to wait for it's turn any longer.

Today I was ecstatic to get another lifer!
I was up at Mount Ida lookout and there were literally no birds, so I drove down slowly, with the window opened listening. I heard some bird sounds, found a place to park and there were finally some birds.
I followed a pair of Eastern Spinebill around for around an hour and in the end I got this shot.
I can't explain the joy every time I capture something new. I get to see the bird with my own eyes, their colour, their song... the different sounds of their fluttering wings. It's just beautiful.
At one point this beautiful baby sat right above my head, a mere 30cm away, I was in awe.
I think I've found a new favourite bird.... though how can one pick just one bird?

I have to admit that the Golden Whistler is one of my favourite birds, with it's beautiful yellow plumage. They are just such bright, happy and beautiful birds. I do love them so.
This little guy was busy above me in the branches, looking for a morning snack while I was out for my walk.
I was ever so happy to see him.
