Nadia Stone Photography

Nadia Stone Photography Catching raw and timeless emotions. The photos and film he left behind are an enduring legacy of our family and the life that we shared.

As an only child whose parents have both died, the photos I have of my family and my childhood are some of my most valued possessions. My father worked in TV, developed an avid interest in photography and had an eye for capturing the beautiful, messy moments in our everyday lives. I was born and raised in Paris and now live in Berowra with my Australian husband and our three children—on-call model

s who have helped me hone my own “moment capturing eye”. I’ve worked in film and fine art photography since 2013. I’ve exhibited my photos in renowned Australian galleries, travelled Europe for special shoots, had my photos featured in print and online and have won awards—both international and local—for my work. But I’m more interested in the mess and chaos of life than the prestige and accolades. I’m more interested in making art from the ordinariness of life. And creating a legacy for my clients and their families, like the one my father has left for me.

{scene from a birth story} : For months, they didn’t know.

And then they did.

One of the most beautiful moments to witness as a birth photographer is that first discovery—the moment a family finally meets the baby they’ve been dreaming about.

{scene from a birth story } :From the outside, labour can look impossible.

But contraction by contraction, breath by breath, women do extraordinary things.

This is the moment the intensity gave way to stillness.
The moment everything changed.
The moment she finally held her baby in her arms.

Birth never ceases to amaze me.

{scene from a birth story} :
Happy first birthday, beautiful girl.

It feels impossible that a whole year has passed since I stood quietly in that room, witnessing your arrival into the world.

This photograph was taken just minutes after your birth, curled safely in your mother’s arms, still carrying the softness and wonder of those very first moments.

Shot on film, exactly as I saw it — timeless, tender, and real.

What a privilege it was to document the beginning of your story. 🤍

{scene from a birth story} : Freshly Earthside 🤍

The first hours are a blur of skin, warmth, wonder, and getting to know the little person you’ve waited so long to meet. These are the moments that become priceless with time—the tiny fingers, the searching eyes, and the overwhelming love that fills the room.

{scene from a birth story} :
Shot on Portra 800.
This film stock has become one of my favourites for documenting birth — the softness of the grain, the way it holds skin tones in low light, the depth in the shadows. Nothing feels overly polished. It feels lived in. Human.

Birth is already fleeting and dreamlike, and film seems to understand that in a way digital never fully can.

I’m slowly leaning more and more into analog for birth work, not for perfection, but for feeling.
