Lucky to have these 3 girls in my life (and for my baby to have such wonderful women to guide him!) the four of us have known each other since birth and I think you can tell from these grins. Happiest birthday Clare, you’re a constant joy to everyone with the fortune of knowing you x

HUGE: the is coming to Sydney. I’m a testament to the fact that a career as a doula in 2023 is fascinating, intimate, prosperous, and most importantly; purposeful. The global doula & birth education market is predicted to grow from $13 to $24 billion USD in the coming decade, and demand for birth support in Greater Sydney continues to outweigh supply as we see a huge value shift towards the “village” model of care.⠀

Co-hosting this training with Stefanie (my own mentor and trainer) is a huge honour, and I’m thrilled to present this golden opportunity before my own birth this year! The intimate nature of this class means extremely limited, but valuable places. Answer your calling and I’ll see you there 🕊️ Zoe x

Had a huge day yesterday so I ended up abandoning almost everything on my Saturday to-do-list.⠀

Didn’t recognise that I was overtired and emotionally a bit burnt out but my partner did and spent time talking to me and sent me to bed with instructions not to scroll…

Things that brought me back to a “full bar” today included two cups of tea, a really long snooze (like, several hours), letting go of productivity goals, not sharing a fresh mango, ten minutes laying in the sun with my eyes closed, and reconnecting with after I was bratty LOL⠀

Tonight my goals are simply having a hot dinner and an even hotter shower, doing a clay facemask (although tbh my skin is already finally preg-tastic after serveral months of chaos), and reading a chapter of my book. Lastly I’m rewriting my essential to-do list for tomorrow. I took time out to rest today and as my mother in law sometimes says: “Nobody died!”

6 years ago I moved in with these beautiful souls on Wonderland Avenue. They took care of me like family, we read books at the beach and shared kale chips and carrot cakes and let our bellies and b***s hang out in our pool, and I found such solace being in their company at an otherwise rocky time in my life. Imagine my surprise when my angel Rosalind (pictured here on one of my first ever rolls of film!) messaged me that we are pregnant with our first babies due just days apart. Beach outings will look a little different soon but I’m here for it and feeling very grateful for all the lessons in my path and good people that guided me to where I am today.

Still riding the high of witnessing my best friend’s second birth. So proud of how Emma & her husband worked together on the day, each with their own critical role. I was chatting about this the other day - but having a doula at your birth is a gift to your partner - even I’m having one! Your partner has the most precious, irreplaceable role in keeping you safe, held, and producing oxytocin in a way that noone else in the room ever could. You are becoming parents together in real-time. When Em was breathing through strong contractions with her midwife, Steve and I were hugging and crying - both so proud. It was such a lovely moment for our friendship to watch Charlie’s birth unfolding and Emma so capable and completely in her element! This photo is just a snapshot, but you can see the use of heat packs, a massage tool, physical touch, upright positioning, and if you were there you also would have noticed verbal encouragement, clary sage oil diffuser, soft light, swaying, low vocalising, acupressure comb, music, and one very happy and supportive birth team working completely in harmony.
