•HOW TO: CLAIM THE RETIREMENT READINESS SCHEME REBATE•
Racing Queensland has introduced the Retirement Readiness Scheme to help lighten the financial load of retiring and rehoming greyhounds after their racing career.
There have been lots of discussions surrounding the process involved in claiming the rebate and we've put together this short run through to guide you through all of the steps and ensure you don't have any issues.
**Deregistration is required to be completed prior to applying for the rebate. This includes adding the details of the 3rd party who will be adopting your greyhound, which may mean that you can only claim the rebate after your greyhound has been placed in their forever-home unless you know that information sooner. We have also included a run through of how to deregister your dog and update vaccination records through RandLE, QRIC's registration and licensing portal.
**Desexing certificate is required for deregistration of your greyhound and also needs to be sent with your application to claim the rebate.
**A dental check, cleaning and all other dental work is also required prior to claiming the rebate. If the vet feels that no dental work is needed, it must be documented in the clinical notes which also needs to be sent with your application to RQ.
**A vaccination is also covered by the scheme, however if your greyhound is up to date in their vaccinations this won’t be required for your application.
**REMEMBER TO INCLUDE**
- Desexing Certificate
- vaccination Certificate
- clinical notes detailing all procedures (some vets won’t automatically give you this so you may need to ask for them)
- an itemised invoice
The scheme reimburses for eligible greyhounds as follows:
Desexing - up to $300 for dogs, up to $400 for bi***es.
Dental - up to $200.
Vaccination - up to $100.
Senior greyhound blood test (for greyhounds over 7 requiring pre anesthesia blood test) - Up to $100.
