Over the past few years we have photographed weddings across a lot of different cultures here in Brisbane and beyond.

Vietnamese tea ceremonies. Indian henna mornings. Korean hanbok on the dance floor. Door games, red envelopes, lion dances, a flower girl in a hanbok with her tongue out.

Every culture does this differently. The colours, the dress, the order of the day, the small rituals that mean everything to the people in the room.

We come in as guests to all of it. We learn the moments that matter before we ever lift the camera, and we ask when we are not sure.

The honest truth is that every wedding teaches us something we carry into the next one. The more traditions we sit inside, the better we get at knowing where to stand and when to stay quiet.

So if your day looks nothing like the last wedding we shot, good. That is the part we love most. 😊

K + P chose to keep it small. No big crowd, no long guest list. Just the people who matter most, standing close on a hilltop with the Glass House Mountains stretched out behind them.

We watched the faces around them all day. The kids running through petals, the quiet hands doing up a dress, the way every person there was fully present. It was a good reminder that the biggest moments are not about how many people show up. They are about being surrounded by the ones you love, making something you get to keep. 😊

It rained. A lot.

The forecast had been bad all week. By the time we got to portraits, everyone was soaked. Shoes off. Veil flying sideways. Hair completely done.

And they just laughed.

That‘s the thing we’ve learned after years of shooting weddings. The weather doesn‘t decide what kind of day it is. The couple does.

We’ve seen perfect blue skies produce stiff, anxious portraits. We‘ve seen storms produce the most alive images we’ve ever made. The difference was never the light or the location. It was the two people standing in front of us.

When you decide the day is worth showing up for, fully, regardless of what‘s happening around you, that’s what gets captured. Not the rain. Not the chaos. The fact that you were there for each other anyway.

The photos from a day like this don‘t just look different. They feel different. Because they’re true.

Whatever your day brings, we‘ll be there with you. 😊📸

C & J. Quiet, then loud. Shy, then laughing with their whole chest. The kind of couple you stop trying to read after about ten minutes and just enjoy being around.

What we loved most was how present they were. Not performing. Not checking how it looked. Just standing in their own wedding with both feet. Crying when something moved them. Laughing when something was funny. Holding each other a beat longer than anyone was watching for.

Their families felt it. Their friends felt it. We felt it from behind the camera all day. Especially in the close-ups, when we’d lower the camera and realise we‘d just caught something neither of them knew they were doing. A look. A small smile aimed at no one in particular. A whole day held in a pair of eyes. 😍🎉

The dictionary defines a bridal party as the group of people chosen to stand with the couple on their wedding day.

That's technically accurate. But it barely scratches the surface.

Your bridal party are the people who've been there for the hard stuff long before the wedding. They show up on the day not as extras in your story but as the ones who already know every chapter of it.

We've noticed something over the years. The quality of your wedding photos has very little to do with how perfectly everyone is dressed. It has everything to do with how genuinely your people show up for you.

The one who covers her mouth the moment she sees you. The one who holds it together just long enough before completely losing it. The one who makes everyone laugh at exactly the right moment.

That's what gets captured. That's what you'll want to look at for the rest of your life.

Your bridal party doesn't make your wedding look beautiful. They make it feel real. 😊

We walked in expecting two camera shy clients and got handed the loudest, most unfiltered, most fully-present couple of the year instead. S&N spent their entire wedding day laughing with their mouths wide open, kicking soccer balls in formalwear, getting blasted by bubble guns down the aisle, and dragging every single guest into the joy with them.

The best part was never about us or the camera. It was watching a mum cry into her son's shoulder, watching friends scream and pile onto the dance floor, watching a whole room raise their glasses like the night would never end. Days like this remind us that the most beautiful thing we can ever photograph is people who refuse to hide what they feel. Pure, loud, unguarded happiness, captured exactly as it was given. 🫰🏻😆

Same moment. Different rooms. Different songs.

Every first dance we photograph is its own little world. A warehouse filled with fog. A ballroom lit by one spotlight. A garden pavilion under fairy lights. A dance floor packed with family pulling out their phones.

What stays the same is the feeling. That quiet seconds just before the music starts, when it's only the two of them. We'll be there for it. 🙏🏻😊

There’s a moment in exit shots that never gets old.

Guests throw or wave something into the air, and for a split second everything is mid-flight. 🌸✨ Petals, confetti, bubbles, ribbon wands, streamer poppers. The frame fills up and the couple is just there, right in the middle of it.

You can’t direct that. It just happens.

If you’re planning your exit, put something in your guests’ hands. Those few seconds tend to make the best photos of the night. 📷

Some of our favourite sessions happen on days like this. Overcast skies, a little bit of rain, and a mood that only that kind of weather can create.

These two C&L forgot the camera was there within minutes. It started feeling less like a session and more like a quiet day trip to the hinterland. Coffee on the kitchen floor. Bare feet on warm timber. And then later, wind catching her dress on the hilltop with the Glass House Mountains disappearing into the mist behind them.

That is exactly how we love to work. No performance. No pressure. Just two people being themselves, and a camera that stays close enough to catch it.

We cannot wait for their October wedding. Same couple, completely different chapter. And we will be there to feel every bit of it. 😊📸

A wedding is so much more than two people.

It’s the room full of faces that carried you here. The friends who cheer too loud. The parents whose hands finally let go. The guests who flew across the world just to be in the same room and say, ”We‘re here for you.“

That’s why we photograph the way we do. Not just the couple. The whole story. The laughter rippling through the crowd. The tight hugs that say more than any speech. The quiet details that only matter because of who was there to see them.

Because one day, when you look back at your wedding photos, you won‘t just want to see how beautiful you looked. You’ll want to remember how it felt to be loved by everyone in that room.

And that‘s worth capturing. Every single frame.😊📷
