After four years, I've made the difficult decision to close Megan Reid Photography.
I photograph families the way I think they deserve to be photographed - not just smiling faces turned to the camera, but everything you didn't even think to ask for.
Little hands reaching for yours, the weight of your baby asleep against your chest, the way your toddler throws their body into you with such reckless abandon and love.
So much love.
The things that feel ordinary now, you barely notice them. Until years later, when they're the things you'd give anything to remember.
But there's something I've come to understand over these four years, and it's the same thing I've been telling you.
You don't get these years back.
So while photography is something I love, the time it takes to run this business is time I want to be spending with my own boys while they're still little. They're only going to be this age once, and I don't want to spend these years documenting the fleeting moments of other families while missing so many of my own.
That means there won't be Christmas mini's this year, and I'm no longer taking new bookings. I know some of you have been waiting on those dates, and I'm so sorry not to be sending them.
There's a lot of sadness in closing something I've poured so much of myself into. I'll miss being invited into people's lives and witnessing all the love that exists there. Some of you have come back year after year as your families have grown, and I can't express what that has meant to me.
It's bittersweet, but I'm excited to lean into this time with my own family and be more present. I'll always be proud of what I've built, and I couldn't have done it without you.
To every family who trusted me - thank you. Truly.
For letting me into your homes and your lives, trusting me with your newborn days, growing babies, wild toddlers, quiet moments and your chaos. I have never taken any of it for granted. I hope that when you look back at the photographs we made together, you don't just see how small your children were, but remember how it felt.
Because that was always the point - to remember.
