She brought with her a sense of calm
a feeling that no matter what,
everything will be okay.

That power to do so,
has never left her.

Another year gone,
she stands a little taller,
more confidence
more knowledge
and so much more.

But I’m reminded that whilst her baby face disappears
& her independence flourishes
she grabs my hand
“Mummy I want a cuddle”
“Mummy can we snuggle tonight?”
“Mummy you’re my best friend”

So I’ll take your hand in mine,
wrap you in my arms,
scoop you into me as we rest.

To nurture you.
To lift you up and watch you soar.
It’s the greatest gift I could have ever asked for.
