FUJIFILM X GFX Australia ๐ค NBL Workshop
Last week, I had the privilege to be invited to a workshop hosted by incredibly talented Sam Tolhurst . Sam discussed lighting set ups, processes, approaches to directing athletes amongst other topics and his love to using the Fujifilm large format system.
The session was also joined by Nick from Eastside Lighting who also provided valuable insight to lighting set ups and his history with photography.
Samโs work, both in sports and media photos, has been an inspiration to me, particularly in the media photos space. To be on set and watch him work with NBL stars, my mind went into full processing mode - I am a silent visual learner (picture the Zach Galifianakis from the hangover - that was me).
Also I got to use Fujiโs flagship camera the GFX100sii. I personally loved the feel of the camera and the system wasnโt too foreign as I own a X100VI. The primes lenses were amazing as I expected, but I foolishly kept the 85mm prime on when I went to take some shots, when the shorter length was probably best for what I wanted to do. ๐
I want to thank Sam, Nick, Fuji and the NBL for giving me an opportunity to come down for the session! The appreciation can be hard for me to put into words, but I am more than ready to adapt some of these learning into what I do already. Try and fail, learn and improve, deliver, repeat!
P.S. It was also awesome to meet some new peep, some I know from conversations through Insta, and some familiar faces who I have meet during my journey! ๐๐ผ
