I've noticed a lot of new faces around here lately, and it's been a while since I've offered a proper introduction.
So, hi! I'm Louis - the face behind Shuttercraft.
I've spent a lot of my career in marketing and advertising, but working in photography and videography has always been a constant passion. What originally began as a creative outlet has become a lot more intentional over time.
My favourite way of working is spending time finding moments that I'm drawn to, and letting the people in front of the camera experience those moments naturally. Unless I absolutely have to, I generally avoid telling anyone to pose.
Most of my time is now spent documenting weddings, families, portraits, and projects that tickle my creative senses. I'm less about perfect poses, and more about natural expression. Those moments make the best photos, anyway.
A big turning point for me was a trip to Tasmania with my wife a couple of years ago. There was no client work involved, but boy did it remind me why I picked up a camera in the first place all those years ago. (Also, Tasmania is absurdly good for photography.)
When I'm not holding a camera, you'll find me either:
• planning my next snowboarding trip to Japan
• watching something horror-related (and often regretting it later), or
• overthinking a coffee order
If you've been here a while, I really appreciate you sticking around, and would love to know what you think of my work.
And, if you're new here, say hello! I'd love to know how you found me.
Catch you around ✌
