With the arrival of our newborn baby boy baby 👦 I haven’t had the chance to post here as much as i would have liked.

I thought I would share an image showcasing some stunningly crafted rings from a recent client project. We worked to deliver a collection of dynamic images that could be used across both social media and website applications.

Jewellery photography can be notoriously difficult. In the e-commerce world, it’s a balancing act of obtaining a beautiful result while at the same time keeping time under control so that it is still economically viable for both yourself AND the customer.

If you’ve ever tried photographing jewellery, you’ll understand some of the challenges with focus, fall off, reflections, lighting, positioning, product prep, consistency and colour correction.

It’s been some time (see what we did there?) since we posted on IG. We recently had the opportunity to photograph some beautiful pocket watches for one of our clients.

A balance of soft and hard light sources provided the look we were after with this dark polished vibe.

We used a broncolor official worldwide] Siros 800L with a 100x100 shaper attached as the key light. Another 3 broncolor official worldwide] Siros 800L heads were used, 1 as a gentle fill to lift shadows with a 90x120 strip, softened even further with a scrim camera left. Another Siros 800L rear camera right with bare bulb to provide some hard shadows and shape to the image, and a final overhead 800L with a large 150cm octa providing a gentle illumination from above. 📸

Shot on a Canon R5 with RF 100mm f/2.8 macro 💡
