MeluMika Photography Hi friends I’m a hearing-aid wearing photographer located in Brisbane.

I am a neurodiverse individual who adores meeting families and capturing memories of Home Birth, Hospital Birth, Post-Partum Deliciousness and journalistic home sessions. I’m LGBTQIA+ positive being q***r myself I adore working with ALL families (animal babies too) and providing my families with little pops of love and glimmer triggers. I have a deep understanding that each individual interacts wi

th the world differently and I am able to work with all abilities and disabilities during our sessions. We can take breaks, be nonverbal and make any accommodation to ensure you and your loved ones are well looked after while we photograph your memories

I hold a current Blue Card working with children and love all animals, I’m down with Bluey and spent a lot of time dressing up with my kids and being told “Stop singing mum” & “why do you dance like that”. My goal is to provide you with photos to look back on and think damn I’m so glad I had that pink haired lady come take those photos of our gorgeous family.

If you want to be powerful, educate yourself.

This photo might be a bit confronting for some.

This photo might be recognisable as menstral bleeding.
This photo might make someone think of pain.

This photo might emote shame for visual bleeding.

This photo is actually post birth, this photo is warm water pouring delightful congratulations all over her body.

This photo has a smiling, chatting mothers head just out of frame. I wanted to share a thought on perspectives. if you're going to be giving birth, educate yourself.
Find what your fears are and confronting them by education is a beautiful way to empower yourself, your birth and your transition to parenthood.at first things may appear scary, too raw or too much when in fact, it's totally the opposite.

In birth your mind and thoughts will shout, or whisper, all the knowledge you feed it.
Get educated. Feel powerful. Face the gritty.

My daughter and I are going through the end of our breastfeeding journey. 2.5 years of on demand feeding. I'm still unpacking what this means for my identity my body my emotions and my relationship with our daughter. Have you reached an end of your feeding journey, are you just about to start? Do you have support to do so? I learnt that an ibclc can help you exit just as they helped me enter my breastfeeding adventure.
Remembering to be gentle with myself and nurturing my daughter as she asks questions, role plays the changes with her toys and works her way through our dynamic as it shifts.

I worked with .debbiejay in a session to unpack how I'm feeling, identifying grief and loss, panic and guilt but also reclaiming my body, watching my husband's role as father burst into full effect and experimenting how to now show love and compassion beyond breastfeeding.
Big change. Big feelings.
Have you found any resources, books, videos on the topic of weaning a 2.5 year old you can share to the community?
