Lightsmith Images Photos crafted by heart, for lovers of the perfectly imperfect. I love pictures that make you feel something. They need not be perfect but they draw a reaction.

So, a little about me...

I’m a Brisbane-based photographer who sings to my cats (much to their dismay), breaks out in dance for no good reason and always refers to my car by name (currently my 4WD, named Xena). A gasp. An emotion. They make you look just a little bit longer. This is what I look to create for my clients. Portraits that get to the heart of the connections between people. Portraits

that are able to reflect all the nuances, mannerisms and expressions that are unique to each person. Portraits that in years to come, you can look back on and instantly, remember a time, a place, a feeling. If you are looking for a studio portrait where everyone is looking at the camera, all neat and tidy, saying “cheese”, then I’m not going to be the photographer for you. If however, you want a series of photos that embrace all the things you love about your favourite people and favourite places, then we’re going to be a good match. And if that's the case, get in touch today so we can start getting excited about all that is to come. Dan x

High energy with a sprinkle of quiet pause, marked what was a stunning family session earlier this week. What a joy reuniting with this family - I’ve been looking forward to this for some time 🌱

In the prettiest of backyards, I spent an hour with one of my favourite families. Highlights included the tree swing (if only it fit me, I would have had a go for sure), the giggles (so, so many giggles from this giggle monster), and an attempt to capture the family cat (check out the my stories to see how *successful* this was). As ever, I left with a very fully heart - thank you Lauren and Curly for having me back to capture this next part of your family story 🌻

It’s been almost three years since I captured the wedding of Em and Mitch. Bright blue skies; a perfect Brisbane winters day.
Now, it’s three weeks since Essie arrived into the world and yesterday morning’s shoot had those same ingredients - another stunning winters day. Scout popping in from time to time to see what his baby sister was up to, and little Essie herself, so calm and safe in Em and Mitch’s arms ❤️
