RAW CRUEL NATURE 😳
Poor Possie - he thought the palm tree was safe and effective shelter
It was both sad and fascinating watching this coastal carpet python have breakfast.
I was at an annual shoot contract and I heard birds making a ruckus around the trees just outside the venue.
I had got to the event early so I went to have a look..with camera.
This is the scene that unfolded over the next hour - sequence as follows:

1 & 2 Possie still alive and being constricted- poor thing 😞
3. I could not figure out how the snake caught him as possums are quick - see the python jaws latched onto the tail ,just behind the leaf.
4. Possie now dead and the python has adjusted his grip to start the meal - head first.
5. Python now coiling around the Possies body to form a “sausage” + see the bite mark in the tail
6. Looks like the is python dislocating his jaw to get a grip
7. Snake head clearly seen working the possum into its throat
8. Double coil further squeezing the Possum with the pythons head going into the middle of the coil
9. Possie now well inside the python with a fraction sticking out.

Mouse, what mouse? AUSTRALIAN BARKING OWL.
This week is bird week, yes and they do apparently bark like a dog and make assorted growling noises to indicate their territory and ward off predators. Shots from the raptor show centre 🦅

AUSTRALIAN BARN OWL - This week is bird week, my feed will feature photos of Australian birds starting with birds of prey.
These were taken centre - we enjoy a good raptor show, we got to see 2 shows😁. Watching these wonderful birds fly and hunt 🦅 is thrilling.

Welcoming home our Queensland Olympians.
Tokyo 2020(1) was thrilling and such welcome relief from the everyday drama that has dominated our lives for the last 2 years.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner presenting the keys of Brisbane to the representatives of the olympic and Para Olympic teams, too may athletes to mention by name, you are all champions.
My wife and I enjoy every moment of the olympics, with swimming, hockey, rugby 7’s, rowing, diving and the canoe slalom being some of our favourite events, but as each new olympics roll around we find ourselves discovering new exciting sports to watch such as the BMX freestyle, surfing, sports climbing and skateboarding.
It was pretty Hot in King George Square today but well worth it to see these champions and applaud their efforts.

FLYPST RIVERFIRE 2021 - These shots from practice flypast today, I was hoping for some close bridge action like 2019, I think the pilots may have been spoken to after that flypast went global. 🧐🤣😂

Saturday at Snapper: There was a large swell event over the weekend so early start and went down to capture the brave doing their thing. It was not as big as the news was reporting, although DBah was apparently way over head heihght.
Different techniques used for some shots and a nice fisheye shot from the lookout. The early light was great shining through the wave. Look at the images carefully, they tell the story of a pretty full line up and some pretty big sets.

Last night's blood moon eclipse Tony Auden Bureau of Meteorology unfortunately I missed the moon rise thanks to the M1 parking lot, My heart does go out to the people who had the accident, not a great way to finish the day.

Beautiful North Stradbroke Island.
This is a small sample of the photographs we made while on a short break. The weather was a bit all over the place and the sunrises and sunsets did not colour up as much as I would have liked.
This has become one of my new favourite places to shoot, and a great place for some RnR - we will be back.

wild weather on North Stradbroke this weekend, started yesterday with squalls and today has seen some pretty heavy downpours. We were caught out in the rain when on the stunning gorge walk. Thanks for the heads up Tony Auden, hoping for some better forcasts for next week 7NEWS Brisbane

Living Legends... I was asked to shoot the MacArthur Museum Foundation dinner at the Tattersalls Club in Brisbane as a Pro Bono support of the foundation. This was fittingly held on the ANZAC weekend, and many attendees have served in the armed forces. From the MMB website - MacArthur Museum- Brisbane is dedicated to telling the stories of the Allied campaign in the South-West Pacific Area (SWPA); the role of US General Douglas MacArthur as Supreme Commander of Allied forces in SWPA; and the impact of the war on the city of Brisbane and its people.

Tog notes, I must get a second FF camera and I will need a 24-70 f2.8 to shoot these events, the f4 is not sharp or shallow enough.
My 70-200 seems to have a problem, all the photos showed softness / shake on the RHS of the photos? need to contact Canon.
Also, dark wood paneling and mustard colour curtains, talk about a colour correction challenge 😂😂
