On Thursday, I made the trip out to Wellcamp Airport to witness the rare departure of this Boeing 767-200 (2-TSSA).

The aircraft arrived from Canberra and spent only a short time on the ground before departing for Brisbane Airport. It's not every day you get the opportunity to photograph a classic 767-200, so it was definitely worth the drive.

What makes this aircraft even more special is its Australian history. Delivered new to Qantas in August 1987 as (VH-EAQ), the aircraft carried the name (City of Launceston) and served the airline for over 17 years before being sold in 2004. It was later converted into a VIP aircraft and today operates with Weststar Aviation as (2-TSSA).

From what has been reported, the aircraft has recently been transporting Malaysian dignitaries around Australia during their visit, making this an even more unusual catch.

I made the trip out to the Australian Army Aviation Training Centre on Tuesday chasing some Army Aviation action and it was a treat to capture Black Hawk A60-019 of the 16th Aviation Brigade - Australian Army conducting circuits from the winch area as VENOM 29.

It is always great to spend some time around Oakey with the constant movement and training activity keeping things interesting. The Black Hawk was In the circuit area, giving plenty of opportunities to capture it in action 🚁

KC-30A (A39-004) returning to Amberley on Monday after taking part in Exercise Diamond Spear operations off the Queensland coast through the morning.

Using the callsign “Brimstone 11”, the tanker conducted multiple air-to-air refuelling taskings in support of exercise aircraft operating within the offshore training area before tracking back toward RAAF Base Amberley

It is always great to catch one of the KC-30As out working locally during major exercise activity. ✈️

Wellcamp was a hive of activity this morning as the final remaining Bell Boeing MV-22 Osprey (16-8681) was readied for departure.

Operating under the callsign KONA 41, the aircraft departed for Darwin via Rockhampton and Mount Isa. The day prior, Marines were hard at work conducting test flights, ensuring everything was ready ahead of the departure of the final aircraft.

It’s always impressive to witness the work behind the scenes that keeps these aircraft mission ready.

KONA 11 on approach to Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport🔥

This afternoon I was lucky enough to capture this Bell Boeing MV22 Osprey (16-8642) was tracked operating under the callsign "KONA 11" after earlier departing Cloncurry

The aircraft was operated by VMM 268 Red Dragons who are currently in Australia as part of Marine Rotational Force Darwin (MRF-D).

It is always impressive catching an Osprey in this configuration, such a unique mix of helicopter and fixed-wing performance.

During Exercise Diamond Shield last week, RAAF Base Amberley hosted visiting F-35 Lightning II aircraft from RAAF Base Williamtown, providing a great opportunity for local spotters to observe fifth generation capability in action.

The exercise delivered consistent movements throughout the three days, with the F-35’s distinctive presence and performance making for some impressive viewing and photographic opportunities.

A valuable couple of days capturing modern airpower at one of Australia’s defence bases.

Last weekend I had the chance to attend and photograph the inaugural Fly-In Breakfast at Southport Airfield (YSPT), hosted by the Southport Flying Club.

Once the weather cleared, aircraft started arriving from all over SEQ and Northern NSW. We captured visitors from Amberley, Archerfield, Caloundra, Gatton Airpark, Murwillumbah, Tenterfield and Toowoomba.

A great morning for aviation and an even better cause, with $8,000 raised for Angel Flight ✈️

Archerfield isn’t just circuits and training traffic, it’s also one of SEQ’s key emergency services hubs.

Between Polair from the Queensland Police Service and the LifeFlight rescue machines operating out of Archerfield Airport, there’s always the chance of something interesting spooling up.

One minute it’s standard GA movements, the next you’ve got a police launch or a rescue departure lifting off with purpose.

Archerfield may have less aircraft compared to the major airfields, but it definitely punches above its weight 🚁

On Monday I spent some time at Brisbane Airport and managed to capture VH-8IF, a Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Max 8. While not the newest addition to the fleet, it was great to see it working in challenging conditions, with strong and gusty winds making landings tough for many aircraft. Always interesting watching crews manage the crosswinds on approach ✈️📸

The Dragon returning to its lair 🐉

A39-004 is seen here on Inital and pitch onto runway 15 at RAAF Base Amberley yesterday, having earlier conducted a landing in Melbourne and a missed approach in Canberra as Dragon 56.

It was great to capture the majestic beast as it banked right over the top too !
