There is something really strange about knowing you’re about to completely pull apart the space you have spent a year working in.

But this is also one of my favourite times of the year.

The quiet before everything gets absolutely insane.

Running a small business is a funny old thing.

There are days when you sit back and think, “Goodness, look how far I’ve come.” You feel proud, grateful and lucky to be doing something you love.

And then there are days when you wonder if you’ve completely lost your mind.

There’s always a little fear tucked away somewhere. Will the bookings come? Will people keep supporting me? Am I doing enough? Am I making the right decisions?

But I suppose if you wait until you’re not scared anymore, you’ll never do much of anything.

Because small business isn’t always sunshine and roses. Sometimes it’s a whole lot of faith, a little bit of stubbornness and showing up anyway.

And I reckon that’s alright.

Keep going. Keep believing. Keep making something you’re proud of.

The rest will work itself out.

We are officially well and truly into Christmas prep over here!

The studio will be closing from 19 September until the New Year while we spend a few weeks turning the whole place into a Christmas wonderland.

Christmas sessions will start mid October, with dates being released very soon.

If you’re wanting to book a studio session with one of our plain backdrops, now is your chance! Once we close on September 19th, the studio will be Christmas only until the New Year.

I have SO much planned for this year and I genuinely cannot wait to show you what we’ve been working on.

And if you’re wanting Christmas photos this year, I highly recommend popping over to the website and adding your email address to our mailing list.

This means you’ll get early access to the Christmas dates before they are released to everyone else.

Keep your eyes peeled because dates are coming VERY soon.

Turns out the missing piece was never a blanket or a candle.

It was two dogs. Obviously.

The secret to getting beautiful photos of your dog isn’t getting them to behave perfectly.

This gorgeous girl was a little unsure about the balloons at her birthday shoot.

So instead of forcing her to sit beside something that made her uncomfortable, we slowed things down, gave her space to investigate, and let her decide when she was ready.

And then…

She absolutely nailed it. 🥹

Because your dog doesn’t need to be perfectly behaved for their photoshoot.

They just need someone who knows how to work with them.

That’s the difference between photographing a dog… and photographing a dog well.
