If you think you’re not photogenic, it’s probably because you’ve only seen yourself in the worst possible moments — the tired bathroom mirror, the accidental front camera that should honestly come with a warning, or that random shop window that catches you mid-thought looking like you’re solving world problems. None of that is the real you. The real you shows up when you’re relaxed, when you forget to judge your own face, when you laugh at something silly, or when you talk about something you actually care about. That version of you is beautiful, and it appears way more often than you give yourself credit for. My job isn’t to pose you into someone you’re not; it’s to notice those tiny, honest moments where you’re just being yourself. You don’t have to try to be photogenic. You already are — you just haven’t seen it properly yet.

Well he did it) first and last day. My baby finished school with the bang.

We hide behind our labels like armor.

When someone asks, “Who are you?” —
we rush to answer with titles.

I’m a mum.
I’m a dad.
I’m Ukrainian.
I’m Australian.
I’m a photographer.

We wear these words like name tags
and hide behind them like armor —
hoping they’ll explain us,
protect us,
make us easier to understand.

But they don’t.
They only tell people what we do,
not who we are.

If you stripped away all the labels —
the roles, the job, the expectations —
what would actually be left?

That’s the part most people are scared to show.
The raw, unfiltered, real version.

So let me introduce myself again.

I’m funny.
I’m strong — most of the time.
And sometimes, I’m very weak.
I’m kind — but not always.
I swear like a truck driver.
I’m sarcastic. I’m judgmental.
I’ve got strong opinions and a stubborn streak that could move mountains.

I care — deeply.
But I hide it, because caring that much can hurt.

I’m a human.
A messy, complicated, emotional human
just trying to make it through life
the best way I can.

Maybe that’s what we should start saying when people ask,
“Who are you?”

Not the roles.
Not the titles.
Just the truth.

Because we can change jobs, move countries, raise families,
fall apart and rebuild again —
but who we are underneath it all
never really changes.

It just waits for us to be brave enough
to finally admit it.

So tell me…
if you took away every label, every role, every expectation —
who would you be?
