Tonight I was on a Facebook group for brides & noticed a bride alarmed that her photographer wasn’t posting daily so here’s my disclaimer for 2026 incase you land here & feel concerned about this

I am still in business, I have been for over 10 X years but social media has changed for modern business owners

Once upon a time Instagram was built for visuals . We could post, get found, have people follow us who wanted to & those people would also see our posts

But then , slowly everything changed

It became about algorithm hacking , performing arts, acting, videos , reels,
Certain times of days & now more then ever $$$$

Now followers don’t see our work, engagement is low if we don’t throw money at the app & honestly the time vs what we get back without paid marketing is really not worth it.

I personally don’t want to film myself on clients weddings just to have “content” I’ve always preferred to go to work & make it 100% about my clients, not me

I don’t want to dance or transition

I don’t want to sit for hours creating organic connect that doesn’t get seen or even has 1 x like when I could use that time creating better content that is powered with ads, working smarter for my business & freeing up time to pour back into clients, network & give back in groups / communities

So if you land here & see I haven’t posted 3 X a day know it’s not because I’m not working. But instead because I am & on the things that matter more.

Okay, I’m back from holidays & kicking things off with some things I’ve noticed make weddings far more enjoyable for EVERYONE

I’ll start with just 3 because I talk too much

Too One:

First look & bulk photos before ceremony starts. Now you all know how much I’m a fan of these, so many reasons & honestly the biggest reason in Queensland is because your day is sooo short, you don’t have day light savings, your day from ceremony start to sunset is quite literally 3 hours & 1.5 hours of that is often spent with a photography team 🫠 the other half of your sun is spent standing in it reading vows or hugging people.

It’s not enough! So here’s how we get more wedding day, more photos, more experience & more value for your $ by getting to actually experience all the things you planned for your guests instead of sitting at the corner of a road eating canapés from a box 🫶

First look is done before the ceremony, you do bulk of your photos with your partner , bridal party & family meaning when you walk down aisle you get to enjoy your guests & the best hours of your day as the sun goes down. Sunset photos still exist but only for 20 ish minutes at the end of the day on top.

Tip two:

Set up outdoor ceremony in full shade, stylists I’m also talking to you!

No one, and I mean no one likes to stand for 30 min in Queensland (especially summer) in the sun. Not the bride wearing a gown, not the groomsman in full suits & definately not the guests.

From sweat covered crisp white t shirts, hair sticking to faces, squinting, shadows over body to complaints of feeling like feet on fire 🔥

I’ve seen & heard it all.

It doesn’t matter how pretty something looks, if guests aren’t comfortable they won’t enjoy it. If your not comfortable you won’t enjoy it

Always prioritise comfort over views whether your inside, outside, in a cold country or heat. If you can’t avoid something try find a way to provide a solution, like blankets, parasols or shorter ceremony’s.

Tip three (for now) : don’t skimp on the music!

Honestly I feel music is so over looked sometimes but get it right & the whole mood shifts.
