Had a great trip up to Kingstown, an hour west of Armidale, last week. An exciting new project for MLA (Meat & Livestock Australia) with massive thanks to my old client Mads for dragging me along with her new pursuits.
A couple of drone shots of me getting in shot, wrangling goats, goats wrangled, and Will checking ear tags.
Worked on the MLA account many years ago in my Campaign Palace days, so nice to reconnect.

Great to get on the road again for a new project. Sunny old Kingstown, an hour west of Armidale shooting for MLA (Meat & Livestock Australia). Stinking hot and so many goats!

The Bronica SQ-A is a beautiful square format camera from the early 1980s.
In her 40s, one might say in her prime. A big thank you to my old buddy Russel for donating his Bronny to me.
We were both in the art studio at Ogilvy&Mather when this camera hit the market.
Only takes 12 shots a roll. This one was 200iso Phoenix colour 120 format. I learned a lot from the first 12 shots. Some work to do.
Loving the feel of these shots of a young flowering gum. A lovely softness to them. Stay tuned.

Finally started my journey back into shooting on film.

First roll was Black and White 400 ISO, that was probably 15 years out of date!.
Shot on the wonderful Nikkormat 35mm camera which is at least 50 years old.
Glass has plenty of scratches. Needs external light metre for exposure reading, and focus isn’t great. So mixed results. But heaps of fun. The winding, the clicking, the old metal feel. Love.

For the same reason I prefer vinyl over CDs, I love the imperfections in these flawed images.
Im sure I’ll improve with each roll, but not too much I hope, as these are very close to the look I was hoping for.
Here’s a few that I (and a sneaky shot from Casey) didn’t completely butcher…

Next up is the beautiful Bronica SQA box camera (Circa 1980 - thanks again Rusty!). A 6x6 square format camera that takes 120 film with a max 12 exposures! (…I’m up to 10). Using as 200 ISO Phoenix colour roll for this one. Results to come.
