Time for a catch up post..

We have been in Western Australia for about a week. Crossing from east of WA to the coast there wasn’t much to see so we just mostly did a lot of driving.

Once we got there the van was due for a service so we booked that in but had to wait around for a few days for them to be available.

We stayed in Geraldton for a few days as there was free stays near the beach. Turns out there isn’t much else there either. 😂

We went north to Hutt Lagoon, the pink lake. It was very pink, but also very very busy.

On our way down to Perth where the van was getting serviced we stopped at The Pinnacles Desert. It has a 4km dirt road you can drive through to see the Pinnacles. It also has a 1.8km walk you can do!

While the van got serviced we spent the day in the city. Longest day ever. Perth reminds me very much of Brisbane city but not quite as busy.

Now up to our current adventures!
We went to Busselton Jetty which is the longest jetty in Australia at 1.8km! They also have an underwater observatory. So obviously we did that! The observatory lets you go down 8m under the water to see the wildlife doing its thing. They said they are 1 of 6 natural observatories in the world. Meaning they don’t breed or feed or do anything with the wildlife around, it’s all there naturally!
Laura finally got to see a sea lion!!

And finally, our camp for the night was at Stockton Lake. Which is an old mine. The water is very very blue and has some very friendly ducks around!

Keep an eye out for the next YouTube video! Just a few little things to do before it goes live!

We have done so much driving the last few days that it’s all a blur.

For some perspective on Monday we watched the sunrise over the pink lake.. that lake is now 2200km away from where we are now!

We made the journey across South Australia and through the Nullarbor. There really is nothing to see out there. The road trains are pretty cool though!

We stayed a night outside an old Hut just off the highway. The road to it was pretty terrible but the van is used to that now 😂

While there a storm came through and we got to watch it start in the distance and head right over us. Nothing to obstruct the views! I tried to take photos before the rain started but I’ve never done lightning photos before so didn’t know what to do and had no reception so couldn’t google it. 😅

Towards the end of the Nullarbor there is the cliffs. Which were pretty cool to see! Three different look outs but the first one is the best one.
Hopefully on our way back I’ll be able to fly the drone around there!

We are basically on the complete opposite side of our country to where we live and that is surreal to me. The fact we have driven this far is wild..

Things we learnt while travelling through the Nullarbor…

1. It’s busier than we thought it would be
2. Servos are closer than people say they are
3. It really is boring
4. May be the time of year but we saw very little wildlife. Mostly birds, a couple of lizards and one emu. But not a single kangaroo…
5. There is so many places to stay if you have your own toilet.. even without your own toilet there is still plenty of places to stay (for free!)

Basically all the stories I heard were exaggerated apart from it being boring.. that part is very true!

We got up early to watch the sunrise over Lake Bumbunga. Which happens to be pink..
It was the best sunrise I have seen since we left! (Although we haven't really been getting up early enough for many sunrises)

I wish I could say that was the most crazy thing that happened all day but no..

Later that day we were hours into driving so we stopped for a little break in Kimba. (halfway across Australia apparently).
After out little break we set off again but were stopped 4km down the road by a blown out tyre.
After getting the spare on we went back into town to go to the local tyre shop, who were super lovely. Gotta love small town service!

After all of that we decided we needed a proper shower. Which the small town of Kimba also supplied with a $1 2 minute hot shower. 😍

May not be a whole lot to see over the next few days as we will be heading through the Nullarbor 🤷‍♂️
