Sunrise over Ambergate this morning x 3.
With the sun rising to the East over our neighbouring properties and the large row of trees on the neighbours boundary it gets difficult to see what's happening with the sky, so a quick weather check by drone was needed. The resulting panoramas are attached.

Geographe Bay Yacht Club once again hosted the Skiffs on Geo Bay Regatta over the Labour Day long weekend, This year the large number of Open Skiffs absolutely dominated the Bravo course with the support act being the Sabres, Sharks and a lone Aero. As always, time and an incredible number of rescues on the Alpha course meant limited opportunity to photograph the incredible skills of the open skiff sailors. With Tim (the maestro) Putt officiating on the Bravo course, an incredible number of races was completed over the course of the 2 day regatta with an innovative slalom course being strongly contested by all sailors. Unfortunately with a dying breeze a few of the Sharks/ Sabre sailors missed an opportunity to show their skills.

Skiffs on Geo Bay 2026 had something a little bit different this year with over 40 Windrush Catamarans from around the state joining the big skiffs on the Alpha course. Late morning racing on Saturday was carnage for the first three races with the media boat being occupied performing rescues, 2 cats and an i14 being my personal tally. Lost Rudders seemed to be the major issue...
Still, things settled down somewhat later in the afternoon and five races were completed. Sunday's sailing was a different story with breezes being lighter and no bullets! Four races were completed over the course of the day.
A big thankyou to the photographers apprentice - Brigette R, who kept my camera warm while I was busy on the helm, I am sure that many of these photos are yours (just don't know which ones...)

Images from Skiffs on Geo Bay 2026
As has occurred for the last 9 or ten years a steady stream of skiffs has departed Perth and headed south to Geographe Bay Yacht Club for the Labour Day long weekend. This year was a little different in that they were joined by 40 odd Windrush surfcats and a few Sabres / sharks and an Aero or 2, but that's for another post. Racing commenced earlier than usual on Saturday, and five races were punched out over the course of the afternoon. Strong gusty winds meant that it was carnage on the course (mainly breakages) and as a result, not many photos were taken in the first three races.
Sundays sailing saw two races in the morning followed by another two in the afternoon, conditions were far milder and as always the I14's didn't take to the water on Sunday morning. Seemingly they were worn out from the previous days activities.
We all missed the Cherubs, but it seems that their crews were partying back in Perth.. Congratulations to Jacques and Gini on their marriage.
