This whale was a reasonable way off Australia’s coastline at Ballina, just bobbing around. I thought it’s behaviour was a bit odd..I’ve witnessed whales before just bobbing, either head down having a good chat, tail up cooling down or evening having a rest just nose up, but this whales behavior was very odd..
I soon zoomed in and realised it was playing with a black plastic bag. 😞😞😞I was like , bloody grubby humans.😔😔😤😤
The whale would push it around with its nose and pec fins and occasionally the plastic bag would get stuck on the barnacles on its pec fins, and it would wave it around in the air. It was actually fascinated with it,. I remember thinking it was like a transporting a plastic bag 10,000 years back in time and watching a bunch of ancient humans playing with it.
The entire time I was thinking “just don’t eat it, its not a jelly fish” 🥹
When it would come off , it would push it with its nose, and play with it like a ball.
After a while the whale sunk deep into the ocean and I never saw either of them, again.
Perhaps mows a good time to tag in that recently posted requesting supermarkets to bring back plastic bags.
