Weddings are always a special occasion! And, as a Wedding Photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing some of the most beautiful moments of a couple's big day. But today, I want to talk about something that often goes unnoticed: the groom!

While the bride is usually the center of attention, grooms have their own unique qualities that make them just as special. Did you know that the tradition of carrying the bride over the threshold dates back to medieval times? It was believed that evil spirits lived in the threshold, so the groom would carry his bride to protect her from harm.

Another fun fact: in ancient Rome, grooms would wear a ring made of iron to signify strength and permanence. And, in some cultures, grooms are responsible for carrying their brides across the threshold, while in others, the groom's family is responsible for providing the wedding's dowry.

But most importantly, grooms bring their own special energy to the wedding day. They are the ones who have to keep their emotions in check until they see their beautiful bride walking down the aisle. They are the ones who give the most heartfelt speeches and dance the night away with their loved ones.

Proposals are such special and memorable moments. It is amazing to be able to capture those special moments.
Here are my tips to how “to do” the special moment

- TAKE YOUR TIME, before, during, and after she says “YES”

- for extra credit, we NEED to see her FACE and reaction (try to cleverly have her pull it back or in a bun especially if it’s windy outside)

- remove your phone, wallet, and any other bulky items from your pant pockets

- stay on your knee (your LEFT knee goes down) and WAIT for her to come to you to get you off your knee (do not feel obliged to get up fast)

- mark your ring box in a way that you can easily figure out in the heat of the moment what the front and back is so you can open the box with the ring facing her

- bring your relationship full circle as you comfort her and gain her full attention. Look her in the eyes and make her feel like the most amazing woman in the universe

- ENJOY the moment

I recently had the chance to photograph a beautiful wedding in Puglia. The region is absolutely stunning, with its whitewashed towns, olive groves and crystal clear waters - the perfect destination for a wedding.

The ceremony took place in a picturesque olive grove, with the warm Italian sun shining down on the couple and their loved ones. As the sun set, they enjoyed a delicious meal of local cuisine, accompanied by some of the finest wines Italy has to offer.

As the night went on, the guests danced the night away under the stars. Being a wedding photographer is more than just taking photos - it's about capturing memories that will be cherished forever.
