As the crazy weather takes a break from keeping south east Queensland on it's toes I've had a chance to go through last Mondays lightning display and found this gem sitting on the memory card. Lining up the old Caloundra boat ramp centre frame was a risk but I knew if a single bolt dropped near centre frame I'd have something to work with. To my amazement and pure delight this incredible arching strike landed as good as anything I could have imagined. Hope you enjoy and feel free to share with your family and friends.

What a rush!
Just as a strong case of FOMO was kicking in as I was working and watching the impending storms light up the night sky a cancellation gave me a last minute opportunity to dart down to the Caloundra boat ramp and try my luck. Park car, grab umbrella, secure camera to tripod, literally run to the waters edge and compose all in a breath, actually I'm not sure if I was even breathing 😅. It's a fine line between racing and staying calm enough to make sure focus and settings are just right, to do things quickly but never in a rush. This time the storm lords rewarded me with a few of the best bolts I've captured this season including a few triple bangers like this one.
My heart goes out to all those still trying to clean up after Mondays storms caused so much damage. Stay safe this season 🙏.

Wild weekend to end October in South East Queensland ⚡️
After being caught off guard Friday and being hit by hail while driving I managed to turn the tide and set myself in prime position to watch some severe cells move over the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. Although I'm missing a near foreground I do like this view with Kings Beach on the right, Golden Beach on the left in front of the lightning strike and in between you can just make out two of the Glasshouse mountains 😍.

Well there's nothing more relaxing than dipping the toes in some lovely cool ocean water whilst gazing at a beautiful light show 😍.
I did think the storms were gone for all money last night but the warm ocean water and sea breeze gave them new life as they passed over the Sunshine Coast. I managed to catch a few extra bright strikes with this being my favourite.

Easily one of the craziest CG's I've ever seen. This drunken bolt wandered the sky back and forth extremely confused before finding the ground behind Golden Beach somewhere. It was so nice to finally find enough time to sit on the headland at Caloundra and watch some storms roll in from the west. My Strike Finder 2 is about 3 or 4yrs old now and still nails every lightning strike so that's a big win when opportunities are few and far between for me lately. Hope you all enjoy the view 😉.
