AI data centres are taking up more than land.

They require enormous amounts of electricity, water, computer chips and data storage.

As more AI infrastructure is built, demand for high-capacity hard drives has surged. Much of the available manufacturing capacity is now being committed to large data centres.

That has made hard drives harder to source, with longer wait times affecting security companies and other industries that rely on large amounts of storage.

Fortunately, Alarmquip buys hard drives in high volumes. This allows us to maintain a continual flow of stock for new systems, replacements and storage upgrades.

To put that scale into perspective, during 2025 alone, Alarmquip installed more than one petabyte of storage.

One petabyte equals:

1,000 terabytes
1,000,000 gigabytes

That storage supports the huge volume of video footage recorded across our customers’ surveillance systems.

As demand for storage continues to grow, securing reliable supply matters.

Our purchasing volume means we are well positioned to keep projects moving, even while hard drives remain difficult to source.
