What used to be the front entrance to the National Archives of Australia.

East Block, which now houses the National Archives of Australia, was one of the three original buildings – along with the interim Parliament House and the West Block building – in the city’s Parliamentary Triangle precinct. Known initially as Secretariat Building No. 1, East Block was designed by government architect John Smith Murdoch, who also designed Parliament House and West Block. Construction work commenced in 1925 and the building was ready for occupation in 1926.

Sound and Fury, Canberra's beloved performance art party took over Dairy Road for Enlighten Festival on Sunday night.

While I couldn't stay for the more edgy performances, the opening dance party and the set by Glitoris were a wonderful way to start the evening. I will certainly make sure I am able to stay longer at the next party!

Actively annoyed to have missed the party in the ball pit.

Hosted by Sound and Fury, Capital Brewery, Little Dove Theatre Art and Lexi Sekuless Productions.

Balloon Festival Canberra yesterday, and it was the YMCA's Sunrise Kayak Balloon Spectacular paddle-out day too. While it was a bit overcast, the weather was perfect for the launch, with lots of balloons skimming the lake and chatting with people in watercraft.

f there is anything better on a hot summer afternoon than watching amazing performers rehearse for a performance, I can't think of it right now.

Kevin Curtin's magnificent Modernist Church - St Joseph's in O'Connor. I love the almost origami shape of the roof with the freeform shapes of the bluestone in the walls .

St Joseph's Catholic Church, O'Connor, completed in 1973, is an excellent example of a building in the radical stream of church design of the Late Twentieth‐Century Ecclesiastical Style. The current roof replaced the original - destroyed in a fire that also left the building unsecured and vulnerable to burglary in 2007. Thankfully the interior was largely undamaged and Curtin’s plans available for the roof rebuild.
