These 3-month old lion cubs and their sibling Nyra (already a year old) can be found frolicking with Mum Nairobi and Dad Mlinzi at the National Zoo & Aquarium. Named Potatoes originally as they resembled just that! Little potatoes. Vale the Magnificent Jake - Icon of National Zoo & Aquarium Canberra. He was a Lion's Lion! Handsome, majestic and oh so photogenic. He and his sister Mishka have been there for as long as i've been going and that's a very long time. Mishka connected with me one morning when i said 'get the ball' and she waded into the water and presented it to me. She enjoyed interaction. Jake on other other hand would be in a lofty position acting out 'King' of the jungle (Zoo) - powerful and commanding presence in every move. We will all miss him dearly.
