Oli and the most perfect little lips 🤍 One question many clients ask is “when is the best time for newborn photos?” Truthfully, there is no right or wrong. Every stage has its own kind of magic, and I know first hand that the postpartum window is not always the smoothest. I try to avoid pressuring anyone into something that feels too soon.
If you’re drawn to those super snuggly, sleepy images, with wrapped moments and close up details, that sweet spot tends to be around 7 to 14 days. I especially love that 10 to 12 day window. They’re still beautifully curled up, nice and settled, and we can really lean into those macro-ready moments.
For me personally in my post-partum window, 7 days felt a little too soon. Around 10 days felt much more doable. We had established feeding, found a bit of rhythm, and the idea of showering and inviting a photographer in felt realistic again.
From around 2 weeks onward, they do start waking up a little more. Which is also beautiful in its own way, just a slightly different feel. They are still tiny, fresh little humans, and we can absolutely create a full newborn gallery at this stage. It might look a little less wrapped and a little more awake, but just as meaningful.
Alas, wherever you land in that window, we will make something beautiful from it 🤍

Spent a serene evening with Ash + Nic at the beautiful Bannisters Point back in Feb 🌊 absolutely adore getting to meet and know my clients via engagement shoots. Even better when they show me somewhere special to them along the way! Nic’s grandpa lived on this headland, so many stories and memories have been made in this stunning spot for this pair. Kinda cool to add a new moment to remember for them!

A little bit family, a little bit bump, and a whole lot of love.
Not every maternity session needs a mountain or a sunset… sometimes this is more than enough.

I’ve opened up a small number of autumn sessions, with limited May golden hour availability. 🍂

A little first look magic with Emma and Elliot 🪄
There’s something about carving out a quiet moment before everything begins. Without the audience or pressure, just the two of you…
It settles the nerves, slows the day down, and (selfishly) gives us the most beautiful, present kind of emotion to work with. It can also ease a little time pressure later in the day.
Alas, timelines aside, it’s not really about tradition vs non-tradition these days, I believe it’s about what lets you feel the most like yourselves.
And if that means seeing your lover for the first time at the end of the aisle… that’s perfect too.
The dream team behind it all ✨
