Oli and the most perfect little lips 🤍 One question many clients ask is “when is the best time for newborn photos?” Truthfully, there is no right or wrong. Every stage has its own kind of magic, and I know first hand that the postpartum window is not always the smoothest. I try to avoid pressuring anyone into something that feels too soon.
If you’re drawn to those super snuggly, sleepy images, with wrapped moments and close up details, that sweet spot tends to be around 7 to 14 days. I especially love that 10 to 12 day window. They’re still beautifully curled up, nice and settled, and we can really lean into those macro-ready moments.
For me personally in my post-partum window, 7 days felt a little too soon. Around 10 days felt much more doable. We had established feeding, found a bit of rhythm, and the idea of showering and inviting a photographer in felt realistic again.
From around 2 weeks onward, they do start waking up a little more. Which is also beautiful in its own way, just a slightly different feel. They are still tiny, fresh little humans, and we can absolutely create a full newborn gallery at this stage. It might look a little less wrapped and a little more awake, but just as meaningful.
Alas, wherever you land in that window, we will make something beautiful from it 🤍
