“Smile”

It’s a funny word. Funny because you’ll never hear that word come from us on a session. NEVER. EVER.

“Why” I hear you ask. Because who ever smiles naturally on command? Nobody ever in the history of humanity, that’s who.

We’ll do almost anything to bring the laughter (poo jokes usually for the win with kids), but isn’t that’s what life’s all about? Fun, natural memories to look back on…

When we drill down into it, we’re all just BIG kids really.

From first contact with this family, it was evident from the get-go that they all embraced their inner child. So, with that, we got to work…

And after the final@product was delivered, here’s what they said:

“From the first moment of contact, through to the finished product pick up, the whole procedure was very simple and personalised. Jeremy had a whole range of emotions to work with during our shoot and he created some heartfelt and precious memories for us. He heard what I was looking for and nailed it.
Highly recommend - If I could convince my family, I would have another session before the end of the year!

What inspires you visually?

For me, it comes in many forms, but I can’t help myself when it comes to the way light plays with form - the way it lights a face, or defines a shape, or highlights a figure in a group or throws a shadow on a wall.

My phone is full of moments like these. Inspired moments. Like the shadows on a building from a ride to get a burger, or a stranger walking past a toilet block late at night, or a flock of birds gathering at sunset. Inspo comes in many forms, and it’s happening around us ALL THE TIME.

Maybe this inspires & sharpens my professional work. Or maybe it’s just fun. Either way, I love that light is always interesting and always inspiring.

If your photographer says, “just one more shot”, it typically means it won’t be just one, it will be 38, minimum. 🤭

But often it’s the “one more shot” moments that are the best. Not the smiling back at the camera photos; the real in between moments that truly capture the here and now, as you are, fully present, in this very place and in this very moment in time. ✨

If you could choose a location or a ‘perfect’ time of year to have a photography session, where or when would it be? Or an even better question, if your choice involved choosing both of these options, what would you do?

For this family, it was a ‘no brainer’. Canberra balloon fest. was their dream, which also meant a specific time of year and a 5:30am start.

We attended the awards live and as always, we were awestruck by the quality of work from our fellow Aussies and our NZ family across all categories. Congratulations to every single entrant and winner - it is not a small thing to pour your heart into your passion and put your work out there to be judged and you are all incredible! 💥

We were thrilled to be awarded for almost all the images we entered. 6/6 for Jeremy and 5/6 for both Katie and Lara.

Jeremy and Katie also got to share the honour of both being in the running for the title of 2026 Australian Family Photographer of the Year (for the third time alongside each other) and Jeremy won for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. 🥳

This means that we are a 5 time winner of Australian Family Photographer of the Year (awarded by AIPP, APP and NZIPP). We are heart-achingly proud of how hard we’ve worked for these awards because this is our real client work and a testament to our devotion to this business and our craft. ❤️

We hope you enjoy seeing these. We wouldn’t be here without you. 🥰🙏
