Scenes from Bali.

The tropical oasis really turned on the heat on for this one… but Sof, T, and their crew just got on with it like acclimatised locals.

The entire wedding crew was from the land of the long white cloud. Easy going, welcoming, up for a laugh from the moment I arrived. I’ve always thought Kiwis have the best sense of humour… and these guys didn't dissappoint.

Sof and T were just a joy to be around all day. Great energy, lots of laughs, Sof’s smile beaming all day. The best vibes from start to finish.

So many special moments from this one not to share. Part 2 of this wedding is coming very soon.

There’s something about this moment that always feels a little bit magic.

Ali and Max, just married, walking back down the aisle with the biggest smiles. That mix of relief, joy, and we actually just did that. Their closest people all around them, the harbour sparkling behind, and their daughter Ruby there to witness it all.

It wasn’t grand or over the top. Just a backyard, a perfect autumn afternoon in Sydney, and two people completely wrapped up in each other.

These are the moments that matter most. Not just how it looked, but how it felt - and this one felt pretty special.

Tammy & Tarry got married at the Pyrmont registry with just 10 of their favourite people.

No big production.
No pressure.
Just something that felt like them.

After the ceremony, we skipped the harbour views (not their thing) and wandered the streets instead.

And honestly… it felt perfect.

This is the thing I keep seeing —
the smaller and more intentional a wedding is,
the more it actually feels like something.

More time together.
More connection.
Less noise.

Tammy & Tarry are two of the most down-to-earth, kind, fun people you could meet…
and their day reflected that in the best way.

If you’re planning something small, or doing things a little differently —
you’re probably on the right track.

You don’t need to perform on your wedding day.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.
You don’t need to practice your smile.
You don’t need to “be good in front of the camera.”

The best photos don’t come from doing things for the camera.
They come from being present in the moment.

That’s why I don’t give you a script.
I don’t turn your day into a photoshoot.

I just create a space where you can relax…
and then I pay attention.

Because the real stuff — the in-between moments —
that’s what you’ll actually care about later.

Does that feel more like you?

I’ve been seeing couples spend hours emailing photographers just to find out who’s available.

One bride said it felt “disheartening” finding people she loved… only to realise they were already booked.

So I built something simple to fix that.

You can check availability first — before reaching out.

If you’re planning right now, I’d love to know what you think.

Planning a wedding?

One of the biggest frustrations couples run into is emailing photographers only to hear:

“Sorry, I’m already booked on that date.”

So I’ve been quietly testing a little project called The Open Aisle.

You can search photographers who are actually available on your wedding date.

It’s still early and we’re testing it in Sydney, but if you’re planning a wedding (or know someone who is), I’d love you to try it and let me know what you think.

This question comes up more than you think.

I don’t really have one favourite wedding, and my favourite honestly changes from week to week. Which I know sounds like a bit of a cop-out answer… but let me explain.

It’s never about how “pretty” a wedding is. It’s not the location, the flowers, or how good the dress looked. What makes a wedding my favourite always comes down to the people.

If I really vibe with a couple, and I usually do, I find myself getting completely invested in them. Their story, their families, their friends, the whole dynamic of the day. I kind of fall in love with them a little, and I’m fully immersed from start to finish.

That doesn’t happen by accident either. I think I’ve just become very good at attracting my kind of people.

And it still surprises me every time that I can turn up to a wedding essentially as a stranger… and leave feeling like I’ve been folded into the family, even if just for a day.

There’s something about being surrounded by that much kindness, love, and generosity for an entire day that really sticks with you.

I often leave a wedding wanting to go home and be a better husband and a better dad myself. I’m usually on the phone to my wife on the drive home, telling her about the couple, their families, how lovely everyone was, and how the whole day felt.

In that moment, driving home, buzzing, full of emotion, that wedding is my favourite. And I can’t wait to get home, edit the photos, and share them with the couple.

When I look back at the galleries I’ve delivered over the past year, I don’t just remember the images, I remember the people, the little moments, the feeling of the day. And it honestly makes me feel incredibly lucky that this is what I get to do for a job.

Images from the  field of wildflowers that change each and every time I'm there.

A little Monday reminder.

We’ve had a big few days of messages and enquiries since I shared this on the weekend — thank you so much for the trust.

If you’re one of the people who saved the post, opened the details, or thought “we’ll look at this later”, this is just a gentle nudge to come back and have a proper look.

Bookings for the giveaway close this Friday, and I’d hate for the right people to miss it simply because life got busy.

All the details are still in the pinned post.

A warm summer afternoon at Vaucluse House.
The kind of heat that slows everything down — except the joy.

Tess and Ross travelled home to Sydney to be married, after the last few years living in New York. Not long after this day, they were back there again… swapping sunshine for snowfall.

A black-tie celebration, full of colour and character.
Tess absolutely radiant in her Kyha Studios gown.
Ross impossible to miss in his white tux jacket.
Bridesmaids in soft shades of red and pink, moving through the day with laughter and ease.

Despite the heat, the energy never dipped.
So many smiles. So much warmth — in every sense.

Tess was a true ray of sunshine.
The kind of bride who lifts everyone around her.

I’m endlessly grateful for clients like this.

A really lovely afternoon with Isabella and Ben in the hills of Jamberoo.

They were a little nervous at first (which is totally normal), but it didn’t take long before they settled in, let their guard down, and started having fun with it. Once that happens, everything changes.

The way they looked at each other.
The way they reached for one another without thinking.
That kind of connection is always a privilege to witness.

I’m so excited to be photographing their wedding later this year. If this afternoon was anything to go by, it’s going to be something really special.

Isabella & Ben 🤍
