I’ve been photographing the races at Randwick in various forms since 2003, mainly during the Spring and Autumn Carnivals.

There’s always more happening than you can possibly capture in one brief, but here’s a small edit of images that stood out to me from the 2025 season.

Circles and Cycles: Last night I photographed a party at Aurora Place, my favourite Sydney commercial building. I hadn’t been inside since 2003 when I went for a job interview with Challenger Financial Services. They had an impressive office on the top floor with an amazing view of the harbour and botanic gardens. They offered me the gig - ‘Web Design Specialist’ (or some similar corporate title). It was one of those ‘sliding doors’ moments: choose a stable job in finance or embrace the life of a freelance photographer. Needless to say I opted for the later. Last night, back in Aurora Place after 20 years, had me reflecting on that pivotal decision and feeling grateful for everything that’s happened since. I would 100% make the same decision again today.
