I had so much fun capturing daily life with my dad’s old point and shoot camera 🎞️

This was just a test roll because I’ve never used this camera (or film!) so I put zero pressure on myself to take interesting or exciting photos.

Ironically I love how ordinary and calm they feel ✨

So much fun capturing daily life - these are just from a test roll, my first time using an old film camera my dad gifted me, so I put zero pressure on taking interesting or “nice” photos.

Torrential downpour, no wet weather plan…

10 minutes before I was scheduled to arrive at Eden and Callie’s intimate ceremony at Bronte Beach, I was huddled under a cafe awning, trying to accept that I was about to sacrifice my equipment to the storm.

As I walked up to the headland, the clouds started to move as if in a timelapse. Family started tricking in and the rain had stopped, and the brides arrived to completely blue skies and sunshine.

Maybe love and luck are one and the same. 🌞

I will never hear the phrase “break a leg” the same way…

First of all thank you to everyone who sent me a message over the past two weeks. ❤️

My mom came to visit me from New York, a trip we’ve both been looking forward to for months. I was so excited to show her all my favorite places, for her to meet my partner of over 2 years, for her to see the life I’ve made for myself in Sydney.

Cut to her 3rd day of a planned 3 weeks here. It was Monday and I wanted to show her my morning routine: a stroll to the local park to watch all the dogs run around in the morning light, while sipping on a good coffee. On this walk, my mom (who exercises more than I do, skiis, hikes etc and has never broken a bone) tripped over a cracked sidewalk and broke her kneecap in two. The ambulance took over an hour (!!) to come, and watching her struggling, laying on the sidewalk while trying to keep her calm and conscious was pure agony.

After emergency surgery she required around the clock care (including me injecting her every morning with blood thinners 💉) She is doing much better now, recovering more each day.

As I got back to work, I couldn’t stop thinking about the emergency room nurses, who spend their days in fluorescent lighting dealing with pain and encountering people during their worst moments. So much respect and admiration for them.

It gave me an even greater appreciation for what I’m SO. So. So. lucky to do, encountering people in the height of joy, love and excited anticipation in their lives. It truly makes me a happier person, and I’m so thankful to every single couple that trusts me to be with them for such a huge moment.

Jordan and Adrian got married at Wylies bathhouse, a stunning and peaceful place where my partner and I actually became a couple 💙🌊

They met at a music festival, and Adrian was wearing a full tiger onesie. Jordan was intrigued… they became friends and ended up at at a New Years Eve party together. When the clock struck 12 they both turned around and had their first kiss. 12 years, one dog, and a lott of life later they had another kiss that sealed their marriage. 🎊

Photos you can FEEL.

This is my goal: to preserve the visual and emotional beauty.

The loud joyful moments, the quiet details. To make a collage of the day that brings you back the intangible, how it FELT.

The best job in the world, documenting love. ❤️‍🔥

I asked Lara and Andy to close their eyes and think about why they are certain each other is their person. As they thought, their faces migrated closer and they nuzzled in. It was almost as if they needed connection and when one sense was taken away, instinctually another kicked in.

It felt like something you do with your love when no one else is around. It was vulnerable. It was beautiful.

We wandered around Beach Haven, LBI, which is a small beach town on the Jersey Shore. A place I spent a lot of my childhood in, it’s quintessential Americana summer - ice cream shops on every corner, pastel colored bikes, old-school diners, and mini golf. I’ve wanted to do a shoot here for a while, and lucky for me Lara also has a special connection to LBI and we happened to be there at the same time.

Lara and Andy, thank you for letting me in your little bubble, I could feel how excited you two were to marry your person. Thank you most for your vulnerability - I hope looking back at your engagement shoot reminds you of this unique time in your relationship, on the precipice of a life together.

Djellza and I met in Kindergarten. During recess under a shady tree she offered me some of her animal crackers.
And our 22 year friendship began -

I spent many days and nights at Djellza’s place after school, the smells of Luli (Djellza’s mom - pictured 2nd) cooking traditional Albanian food drifting into Djellza’s room to coax us out. Many movie nights, laughing til our stomachs hurt, running around in the nyc park sprinklers in hot summer sun. So many of my childhood memories are attached to her.

Because of this it was so surreal and beautiful to walk into her home and watch her with her own little family; watch her step into a new chapter of life. Djellza and Mel, thank you for letting me into your newborn bubble to capture it.

Welcome to the world Driton 🐣
