What is unconditional love to you? What would it mean to love unconditionally or to be loved unconditionally? To be accepted wholly and truly and live without fear of being judged?

Imagine that you're a child, discovering the world, discovering yourself. What would it mean to know that no matter what you have someone who will love you regardless?

How would that shape who you are and who you become. Honest love, true love, love that sees the whole person and doesn't turn away.

Imagine the hights you'd be able to soar to!

Hello friends!

I thought I'd make a quick post to introduce myself to those of you who don't know me!

I'm Katie! Hello! As we all do, i have many facets to who I am but the biggest and brightest would be being...

Mum to my amazing kids
wife to my amazing partner
photographer/artist/creative soul
art therapist
nuro-spicy
proudly q***r
feminist queen

who loves running through wild places, holding safe spaces and creating art where YOU are at its heart and soul!

The buzz word at the moment is storyteller, but truly that's what I do. I tell stories (not verbally, I'm actually pretty rubbish at that! But pen and paper, that's a different thing!), I take what is fleeting and ephemeral and transform it into a tangible thing you can have and hold and smell and see over and over.

It doesn't hurt either. All you have to do is be you. Take a walk with your honey, have a picnic with you babes, watch a sunset and take a moment for you.

You deserve all that and more. And this is where you find it.

Transformation, metamorphosis, evolution...however we frame it motherhood comes with enormous change! Physically, financially, spiritually, psychologically, emotionally... heck cosmic shifts are in your stars as you step into parenthood!

Some changes are expected and some come from left field to smack us in the mouth and screech that they didn't want the blue cup and their sibling looked at them funny!

Breath in one, two and out one, two, three, four, five, six.... good job mumma, you didn't know you had that kind of patience in you!

What's been your biggest shift as a parent? How have you embraced it in your world?

Through our resilience we show them that we can do hard things. That solutions are always able to be found. That in our darkest times there is always hope and light if we manage to turn our faces towards the warmth. Diamonds are forged with pressure and heat and so to is depth of character.

When the road is rough, that's when you find exactly what you're made of. And our little people watch us intently, with wide curious eyes as we step up or get up or shape up.

You know you are that precious gem. You know the heat and pressure of parenthood and life. You feel your edges, the smoothness of your facets hard won. I see you. You shining there. How beautiful.

Patience has been one of the biggest things Motherhood has taught me. Its definitely a growing edge, but something I'm determined to foster, grow and eventually embody.

And as Kirri so beautifully shares, it's not just patience in parenting it's the patience of waiting for you baby to arrive, however they join your family.

It's the patience with yourself as you do your very best to nurture these little souls. It's the little pieces of patience that we try to catch as they skittering past us in those moments when wheels are falling off and hair is figuratively being pulled and hands wrung raw.

Gift you that patience.

Be your breath, in and then out. The moment will pass, chaos will dissipate, the time will come. Whatever your patience is leading you too, may you arrive well with peace.

Oof! I feel this one! The beautiful words and observations of .dorahy really call into the light the paradoxes that exist in the parenting realm!

The duality of parenthood is so acute with the fast and slow, the roller-coaster of emotions and feelings, the contradiction of holding two truths at once! Its complex and rich in all its experiences (even those that feel uncomfortable or down right infuriating!)

I'm curious about your dualities! What are the contradictions you've experienced on your child-raising journey? Have there been moments that have brought up competing feelings?

Can you see that perfect sacred mirror. You reflected back at you, in tiny eyes, blinking to the rhythm of your heart.

You see yourself in them, their manerisms, the words they speak, the way they love and rage, the beautiful and the terrible.

We are reflected back to ourselves through the gaze of another. In relationship, we know ourselves, and never more brutally than in communion with our children.

They show us with blazing honesty that hidden secret part of our soul we try to bury deep. They are the archaeologists to our truth.

And because of this we get to soar. We are gifted this precious opportunity to grow in a way akin to the veracity of weeds bursting through cracks in pavement, or in the manner of mushrooms sprouting overnight.

The metamorphosis of parents is vast, deep and at times utterly consuming. Though sometimes our wings are a little marred, charred or bent. And we are never the same again, but truly and honestly beautiful.

Celebrating Mum for all of May not just for one Mothers Day!!! Woo hoo!!

This whole month of May I'm honouring Mums and sharing the wisdom and thoughts from Mum's who have been part of the Mummahood Project, an exploration of Motherhood through Photographic Portraiture.

And today we're kicking comparison because its toxic and pointless!

We solemnly vow to quit comparing ourselves as mums (and humans) to other mums (and humans in general), we vow to never look at others with the intention of diminishing ourselves. We promise to gaze upon our sisters with eyes of inspiration and awe for their accomplishments while simultaneously celebrating our own. This we do solemnly swear.

If you would like to be a part of the Mummahood Project like, follow and comment with a 'mum' and I'll send you through some info!

Celebrating Mum for all of May not just for one Mothers Day!!! Woo hoo!!

This whole month of May I'm honouring Mums and share the wisdom and thoughts from Mum's who have been part of the Mummahood Project, an exploration of Motherhood through Photographic Portraiture.

Today I wanted to talk about how important it is to find connection as a Mum, to find your people, your village. Being a Mum can been a tough road at times, as well as being one of the most incredible experiences you'll ever have, and it's so important that we find like-minded people to share that with.

Isolation and loneliness can be so very real as a Mum, whether you're a new Mum or one whose babies have grown and flown. We still need our sisters who understand the journey in all it's sunshine and rain.

If you know of a Mum who might need a friendly face please reach out to them. A friendly 'hello' can change someones day.

And if you're a Mumma whose feeling overwhelmed or anxious, depressed or alone please reach out to friends, health services, community supports and get the support and love you need and deserve.

We're in this together lovelies! Let's build that community!
