OUR FAMILY CANCER JOURNEY IN 2025.. and a time to give.
As I enter my 6 weeks of spreading Christmas spirit and capturing so many wonderful memories i also wanted to share a link for anyone who likes to donate this time of year to charity.
My husband is doing the Longest Day Fundraiser for the Cancer Council again this year. He did it last year as a once off as we dont like to ask our inner circle for donations each year around this time but this year he is back fundraising again as in 2025 we have travelled HIS CANCER JOURNEY.
Its been a big year of emotions, of waiting waiting waiting for appointments and scans and results. His big operation in July and juggling our businesses through this and in recovery where he had to take it very easy for healing and of course not lift anything. He counted down until he could swing a golf club late September and is back doing a full round and wow... looking at doing 72 rounds on Dec 8th to raise so much needed funds for the cancer council.
For our family, we had the best of a sh*tty situation. He wasnt sick, we found it early but it was still hard. It was still an emotional rollercoaster waiting for the all clear. And HE IS ALL CLEAR which we are so grateful for. There is still some recovery to go and future checks but because of the medical advancements from cancer research we had amazing care, we had technology available to us at John Flynn that made his procedure more precise. All cancers deserve knowledge and new technology like this.
We are VERY GRATEFUL and very aware that this can happen to anyone.. at any time. Your life can be thrown a curve ball at 48.. or for Asko in his Longest Day team it was in his late 30s. Ive cared for my dad and for another close father figure in my life also through their own journey. Finding the disease later, more advanced and being family in need of information, of understanding and the cancer council was amazing in those times for me also.
We will still support the Family Centre this year as usual for Christmas but we are putting our all into this fundraiser too - a full circle of gratitude for Tristam's journey, for our family's journey, and a hope that others can benefit in the future. Hope you can throw in even $5 ### Much love Selena
