I love photographing people, either in the studio or on location. Studio portraits are more intimate and can be the choice for head and shoulders portraits. Environmental portraits, or portraits on location, for example in a park, at home or in a workplace can be more descriptive of a family or a couple, and are great for children who like to run wild instead of sitting quietly in front of a camera.

Flat Rocks Wind Farm.

There are several proposed wind farms around us in Darkan. I wonder how long it will be before we are looking out over wind turbines like this. We might get the wind turbines, however we won’t have the beautiful Stirling Ranges in the background.

It’s too dark for photos? Never!

Shooting for in the Kimberley. I’m always looking for photos that can tell a story, so I was impressed when I showed this one to a young person who said “This one could be about cyber-bullying”!

The fabled Darkan Beach Party returned on Saturday night. It was a great crowd, made up of older people who remembered the original Beach Parties that were held over 20 years ago, and those who are too young to remember the original Darkan Beach Parties. There were many ex-locals and visitors from neighbouring towns who came to town and camped at the caravan park, or stayed on friends' farms.

I volunteered to scan tickets on the gate, but then found out that there was no official photographer. So when my shift was over I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pics of the people in attendance. This was before the sun went down, so the band Bale Out was yet to perform, and the dance floor was not packed, but food vans were pretty busy.

The night started out with people in beach wear, and as the evening progressed the temperature dropped, ending with people looking like they were dressed for an antarctic expedition!
