I've been MIA for a little while now, as I work on a new page (due to facebook not responding to any of my changes for this page) - JMC Photography will be moving over soon, as we launch our official new site! What an amazing weekend it has been! We headed out to join in on the festivities at the Freds Pass Rural Show! The weather remained hot and sunny while we watched the sky divers come down and the opening parade! We met creatures big an small and played on the awesome equipment set up by Smile-A-Mile Fun Bus and Toy Library Inc. (Did you know you can hire their toys!?). We danced to music, watched some great cooking demos, tasted fantastic food and sooooo much more! Safe to say little miss and I had a blast over the last 2 days with our friends! Thanks for a great weekend Freds Pass Rural Community Show Inc.

A little bit of retouching history!

INVENTING THE GLAMOUR PORTRAIT
Did you know they already retouched photos before Photoshop? As written by Mark A. Vieira in one of his many books about the great George Hurrell:
"This [first picture] is a print made from an unretouched George Hurrell negative of Joan Crawford made in 1931 for Harry Beaumont's 'Laughing Sinners'. As was customary with a Hurrell sitting, she was wearing eye makeup and lipstick but no base. The commercial lens that Hurrell had recently adopted was unsparing in its clarity; there was no softness to disguise sun damage or freckles.
This [second picture] is a print made from the same negative after the retouch artist James Sharp spent six hours applying pencil lead to its emulsion. This is why Golden Era movie stars looked impossibly beautiful."

The May 50K starts TODAY!

It's the first day of May and you know what that means...The 50km challenge kicks off today - hooray!

Together with 7,784 people across Australia, I have made the pledge to leave my limits behind this month and raise vital funds for research into multiple sclerosis.

3 out of 4 people affected by MS are female and 10 people are diagnosed every week. It strikes young people in the prime of their lives. Right now, there are over 25,600 Australians living with MS and there is no cure.

Being a event photographer I walk ALOT, whether it be for a hour around a small weekend market or several hours at a large event or bush trail, either way i'm walking. What a busy Easter weekend it has been! Though I couldn't go without my routine trip to the Zuccoli Markets! I was excited to see such a great turnout of both stalls and people, we enjoyed a lovely morning walk around and even got some goodies from the Easter bunny himself!- We hope you all had a lovely Easter!
