Well, yesterday saw me make the drive back to my second home — Banyan Farm on the Daly River — this time for the beautiful wedding of Kate Statham & Ryan.

Before I’d even arrived, I received the dreaded message… the bride was not in a good way and feeling incredibly nauseous.

Never fear — your photographer comes prepared! 😂 Anti-nausea tablets packed and personally delivered all the way to the Daly. Seriously, who else can say their wedding photographer also provides emergency pharmacy services? 😂

And that pretty much set the tone for a wedding that was anything but ordinary!

With the Wooliana Rd resident cattle casually roaming through the ceremony — apparently brought home from the neighbours by resident white pony Floss — there was plenty of entertainment happening around the altar.

Because really… would it even be a Daly River wedding without a little unexpected wildlife joining the guest list?

But amongst all the laughs was something incredibly special.
Instead of Kate and Ryan exchanging traditional vows with each other, their children were included in the ceremony and presented with commitment necklaces.

There is something so beautiful about choosing not only the person you love, but choosing their children too. Taking another person’s child into your heart, making a commitment to love them, support them and stand beside them as a family is something incredibly special. 🤍

After the ceremony we ventured down to the new sandy beach created by the devastating Daly River floods, where shoes came off, the fun began and we made the most of the incredible new landscape.

There were barefoot games, plenty of laughs, bridal party banter and, because apparently we hadn't had enough excitement for one wedding… a CROCODILE decided to make an appearance nearby and give us all a decent scare at the end!

From cattle at the altar to commitment necklaces, sandy feet, crocs and one absolutely hilarious bridal party, this small and intimate wedding was action-packed from the get-go — but it was also filled with so much love.

And to the bridal party… thank you for putting up with me, my directions and especially my banter. 😂 I had an absolute ball with you all.

Especially you, Scott… you know why. 😂

Congratulations, Kate & Ryan. 🤍
What an unforgettable way to begin this next chapter together — not just as husband and wife, but as one family.

Last night we had the pleasure of capturing the winners of the Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory 2026 Greater Darwin Region Business Awards, held at Mindil Beach Casino.

And what an evening it was!
✨ Over 400 people
✨ 19 award categories
✨ 247 entrants

So many incredible local businesses and individuals to celebrate.

Safe to say, it was a HUGE night — and apparently also leg day for this photographer. 😂

Between squatting, crouching, running around and lifting cameras for hours, I’m pretty sure I accidentally squeezed in a full workout while capturing it all!

Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners. It was fantastic to see so many hardworking Territory businesses recognised and celebrated.

CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE…

The tiny assistant has an announcement…

GALLERIES ARE WALKING OUT THE DOOR THIS WEEK!

We’ve FINALLY started making some serious headway through the backlog, and those galleries are heading to inboxes thick and fast!

So keep one eye on your emails 👀
…and maybe the other on your spam/junk folder, because apparently galleries like to go on little adventures sometimes. 😂

If you’re waiting on yours — it’s coming! 🙌

Now back to the editing cave I go…

Well… I did it! 🫣

Last night I stepped WAY outside my comfort zone, put on a sexy dress kindly supplied by a beautiful friend, had my hair and nails done thanks to another gorgeous friend, and headed off to the Local Business Awards.

Even though I’m still not feeling 100%, I showed up — nerves and all! ❤️

I didn’t take home the win in my category, going up against some pretty big businesses, with an aviation company ultimately taking out the award. But you know what? I’m still incredibly proud that little old Valley Photography NT was there amongst them.

For a small photography business built on capturing real people, real moments and memories across the Territory, being recognised as a finalist was pretty special in itself.

One of the best parts of the night was looking around the room and seeing SO many familiar faces — people, families and businesses I’ve had the privilege of photographing over the years. It was a bit of a “wow” moment realising just how many stories I’ve been lucky enough to capture along the way. 📸

No trophy this time, but a beautiful night, plenty of laughs, some familiar faces and a little reminder that sometimes you have to get uncomfortable, put on the sexy dress and SHOW UP.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!

And a huge thank you to the beautiful friends who helped get me there looking a little more put together than I was feeling. 😂❤️

Well… this weekend I’m doing something I’ve never done before 😬

For the first time, I’ll be attending the Local Business Awards ceremony as a Finalist.

Am I excited? YES.
Am I absolutely terrified and nervous? ALSO YES. 😂

So naturally, my way of dealing with those nerves is to bury myself in editing and try to smash out a ridiculous amount of galleries so I can actually give myself Saturday OFF.

No editing. No “I’ll just quickly finish this gallery.” No sitting at the computer for 10 hours.

Just a day to calm the nerves, attempt to make myself look presentable and probably have a minor wardrobe meltdown before heading out the door.

Thankfully, I’m sitting with some familiar faces and fellow nominees, including Tristan Christie from Creative Roofing, so at least I won’t be technically be completely on my own!

Running a small business is bloody hard. There are ridiculously long hours, late nights, sacrifices, moments where you question everything… and then moments like this come along and remind you just how far you’ve come.

Win or not, getting dressed up and sitting in that room as a Local Business Awards nominee is something I’m going to be pretty damn proud of. ❤️

Now… back to editing because Saturday Bec deserves a day off — and Wednesday Bec has apparently decided she’s going to make that happen. 😂

When you cue the bridal party to “drunk walk”… and they absolutely understand the assignment.

Possibly the best drunken walk I’ve ever captured — the commitment, the chaos, the coordination… or complete lack of it.

Pretty sure this crew could give some of the Mitchell Street party-goers a serious run for their money!

There’s something pretty magical about golden light, sandy toes and two people completely wrapped up in each other.

Kate & Dylan’s engagement session was an absolute dream — just the two of them being completely themselves, throwing in a few fun games along the way… while I spent most of the session behind the camera laughing right along with them. 😂

Congratulations Kate & Dylan! 💍
I’m so excited for this next chapter for you both — and even more excited that I get to capture your wedding day too! 🤍
