The last of the Dalby Big Air photos. Still on day 1, mind you...
The weather out at Dalby continues to be going gangbusters, and now only a couple of days to go until the finish.
I think these guys will be keeping their smiles for a while yet!

Day one of the Dalby Big Air was meant to kick things off, but a bit too much breeze, coming from the wrong direction, had other ideas, and the day was called off. That said, it wasn’t a total loss: Here are a couple of pics from the last couple of days with our new neighbours at the Dalby Airfield checking us out.
Some of the guys went swimming at a waterfall in the Bunya Mountains, and some others from the hang glider crew traded wings for the day and jumped into Dr Craig's taxi and flew sailplanes instead.
The first briefing went ahead though...

Dinner on the final night at DDSC was a fitting finale to an exceptional competition. The evening began with a relaxed prizegiving ceremony, where stories were shared, achievements recognised, and a few good-natured laughs were had at the inevitable tales from the week. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the setting shifted out onto the airstrip, where tables were set beneath a star-filled sky. About as perfect a backdrop as you could ask for after a week spent soaring in it.

Adding to the atmosphere, we even had a touch of “royalty” in attendance for the evening, the combination of great company, good food made it a night to remember. It was a very well run competition from start to finish, and it couldn’t have been wrapped up in a more memorable way than a relaxed, laughter-filled dinner under the stars.

Last day of the DDSC Easter regatta.
Bit of a photo dump here, as this is the only day that I got to see any competition!

A quick dash from Lake Keepit airstrip and back up the hill for the final round of the NSW State Titles, and Mt Borah turned it on yet again. Blue skies, and nice cues to keep it interesting, and the gliders are streaming into the goal as I post this.

Today’s course was a classic “barbecue task”. A tidy little dog-leg to a conveniently close goal, designed to keep things sporting without stranding anyone out in the paddocks at sunset. long enough for decent racing with plenty in goal, and hopefully enough tactical nuance to keep the lead gaggle honest.

Best of all, they’ll all be back in time to swap the "there I was" stories over dinner because what’s the final day without a few tall tales served alongside the beers?

A few launches from the final day of the Keepit Regatta, flown out of Lake Keepit near Tamworth. The weather once again delivered with classic summer conditions and good lift, and hopefully enough challenge to keep everyone honest without spoiling the fun. After a full week of solid tasks.

There was plenty happening on the grid, with pilots making the most of the two-seaters, swapping seats for some last-minute coaching, sharing techniques, and passing on a few hard-earned tips before packing up for the trip home. It’s always great to see that exchange of experience, especially at a regatta where learning sits comfortably alongside racing.

Some Mt Borah launches on the penultimate day of the NSW State Titles. Great flying conditions up on the hill again today.
The weather was kind to us again, with plenty of lift, which saw lots of gliders in goal and lots of smiles all round. Even with a few “tap roots” on launch :-)

Looking forward to seeing how things finish up on the final day today, hopefully some big XC and a few more goal beers to wrap up a great week of flying!
