The boys get forgotten about. Not on my watch.

Everyone loves a bridal prep photo — the dress, the details, the bridesmaids. And rightly so. But the groom's room is always worth a visit too. Especially when the groom looks this pleased with himself.

Ben is fully dressed. His groomsmen are not. Nobody seems bothered by this. That smile says he's been ready for this day for a long time.

Jamie-Lee and Ben — and yes, I always make sure both sides of the day get covered properly.

If you want a photographer who doesn't forget the groom — drop me a message.

This photo without flash: pretty good.

This photo with a flash pointed at the chapel doors behind them: this.

That warm glow framing them isn't the venue lighting — that's me, lightstand in behind, hitting a flash at the right angle to bounce off those doors. The arch, the ivy, the stone path — it was already a great backdrop. The flash just turned it into something else.

Small decisions make big differences. Knowing when to add light, where to point it, and how much — that's the bit that doesn't show up in the photo but shows up in the photo.

Emelie and Matt at Enzo Weddings. Couldn't be happier with this one.

Leala asked for a sunset photo.

The sky said no.

So I made one.

This is what a flash with an orange gel looks like when you position it between two people and point it straight at the camera. The rusty old truck was already there. The rolling hills were already there. All I had to do was convince the light to cooperate — and when it won't, you bring your own.

Leala had no idea what was happening behind her. She just heard "hold still, look at each other" and trusted me. This is what she got.

This one lives in my all-time favourites folder.

James and Michael, Sydney — the light did something ridiculous right at the end of the day and I had about 90 seconds to make the most of it. We were under the Harbour Bridge, the sky went orange and blue at the same time, and these two just held hands and stood there.

I didn't need to say a word.

Some photos you look at years later and they still stop you. This is one of them.
If you're planning a Sydney wedding and want a photographer who'll chase the light until it's gone — drop me a message.

The most common question I get asked: "What happens if it rains?"

This happens.

Belinda and Nathan's portraits were supposed to look different. The sky had other ideas. So we grabbed an umbrella, found a fallen tree, and just kept going. They were laughing before I even lifted the camera.

Rain doesn't ruin wedding photos. Stress ruins wedding photos. These two didn't stress — and this is what they got.

If you're worried about the weather on your day, let's have a chat. I've been doing this long enough to know that some of the best photos happen when the plan falls apart.

Nobody sees this bit.

Before the rings go on fingers, they spend about ten minutes on a table while I move fairy lights around like I'm defusing a bomb. Angle the lights, check the reflection, adjust the rings, check again. Repeat until it looks effortless.

This is Angie and Kevin's rings — tungsten band, diamond cluster ring, fairy lights from about 30cm away, and a surface that caught the reflection just right. The whole setup takes longer than most people spend on their vows.

Worth it though.

If you want the details looked after — the small stuff as much as the big moments — drop me a message.

Found this one in the archives.

Amy and Justin, King Edward Park — back when I had less grey hair and they had no idea what their wedding day was going to look like yet. This was just two people, a hill full of Norfolk Pines, and a late afternoon that decided to behave itself.

Engagement shoots are one of my favourite things to do. Not because of the photos (though I'll take that composition any day) — but because it takes all the nerves out of the wedding day. By the time we're standing at the altar, we're not strangers anymore.

If you're newly engaged and haven't thought about an engagement shoot yet — worth a chat.

Going through the archives and found this one.
Vicki and Brandan at Mystwood — wildflowers everywhere, that sky doing absolutely everything it needed to, and two people just standing in it all. Some photos you look at years later and they still stop you in your tracks.
This is one of them.

"Can we get a shot with the car?"

Done.

Lauren and Josh brought this beauty along and the Hunter Valley did the rest. Vineyard behind them, that hazy afternoon light, a classic Australian car with a ribbon on the front. I just pointed and clicked. (It's a little more than that, but you get the idea.)

Getting married in the Hunter Valley? I travel up regularly and would love to be part of your day.

"You managed to get some great candid shots — the stand-out being the hilarious photo of my bridesmaid Chi after being bit by something mid bridal party photoshoot. I shouldn't laugh but it's a perfect example of how quick you are to spot a great photo moment!"

Honestly? Chi, I'm sorry. But also, you're welcome.

This is exactly what I'm there for — the real stuff. The laughs, the chaos, the moments that happen whether you plan them or not. Those are the ones you'll look back on in 20 years and still crack up at.

Huge congrats to Emily and Brett — and yes, I did deliver the gallery early.
