Saying goodbye to my photography website which I've had for the past 16 years. It's going to be taken down in a couple of days and I'm sad to see it go. But, hey! It's a new year, there will be new projects and there are new websites are on the horizon.

I've loved being able to make portraits of you which I hope are joyous and comforting and will last you for generations to come.

Cleaning out my hard drive I came across these throwbacks. I've edited them to BW, although I rarely sold black and white and for family portraits I advised colour. In the 70s and 80s BW was all I shot because that's the film I could develop myself - and that was the only film I could afford!

Perhaps the photographer's studio was destroyed. His intent is to shield the viewers, presumably the family of the seated subject, from the terrible memory of loss and destruction and he wants the viewers to focus just on the portrait of the woman... For me, it's the behind-the-scenes photo which is the art. It tells me so much... Also, that little pot in front of the woman - is this a busking photographer do you think? The woman isn't particularly dressed up as if for a commissioned portrait.

Its been very quiet the past couple of years. I am no longer focusing (bad pun intended) on studio work and no longer taking on clients. But I'm not quite done yet and in the future will be looking for willing volunteers who would like to participate in being part of art projects. Any age. You will get a beautiful art print in return for the fun time we will have making the picture.

Here's a recent pic which is missing a human :) Hands up if you want to be an arty model!

Turning the studio into white for tomorrow's clothing product shoot and getting the colours spot on. I was happy spending time getting it right - assistant Tony less happy! Alana's proud to launch her business and her new website and I'm proud of her for doing it! I'm also chuffed my images are able to illustrate her psychotherapy practice. From start to finish, I not only planned how to achieve the pictures she needed but it was also done with her 'branding' colours in mind too. It's the little details which help unite the whole... Yes, we do business portraits! (In case you were wondering 😁 )
