What a magical night — the Aurora Australis treated us to a brief, unforgettable display. At moments it was faintly visible to the naked eye, but the camera revealed the full colours and textures that felt almost otherworldly. 🌌✨

Captured around Churchill in Gippsland, Sunday 8:30–11:00 PM. A reminder that all you need is dark skies, cloud-free, and a little luck to witness nature’s light show. Absolutely worth the late-night drive.

What a busy start to the year for my photography... A wedding, A Rodeo, and a lot of Helicopters....

Here is a bit photo dump of the Traralgon Rodeo that occurred on the 11th of January 2026.

I am a bit late to the party in posting them, but I hope you enjoy some of the results of my first rodeo as a photographer. There will be a few more posts from the Rodeo over the next couple of weeks as I process the images.

What a show last night — easily the largest Aurora Australis I’ve witnessed in years.

I headed to Eagles Nest on the Bass Coast and hiked down the stairs to gain a lower coastal perspective, which really helped isolate the structure of the aurora above the horizon.

It’s been a while since I’ve worked with long-exposure techniques — balancing exposure time, ISO, and motion to retain detail — but nights like this are a reminder that I need to get out and capture more events like this again soon.

Storm season edges closer with this great shelf cloud over Melbourne

A North West Melbourne Shelf

As severely warned storms moved across the state with the passage of the cold front, this spectacular shelf developed south-west of Sunbury/ Riddells Creek.

It was too big for a normal landscape shot, so I took a 9-image Panorama style to capture it in all its glory.
