I took my old Linhof Super Technika down to Maitland Steamfest. I loaded it up with X-ray film that expired in the 1970s. Crap quality photos, but an interesting look, I think. 🙂

I went to the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival yesterday, and took a roll of film with the beautiful old Exakta camera. I get really confused every time I use this camera - its designer must have been left handed, all of the controls are on the opposite side to every other SLR camera I've used ! Still, it's a nice camera to use 🙂 Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival

NINE MILE MOTORS 1st ANNUAL SHOW & SHINE BONNY HILLS 2026. I took out a couple of beautiful vintage cameras and ran a roll of film through each of them. What do you think?

I went to a car show at Kew this weekend, and I used one of the most beautiful 35mm SLR cameras ever made - Ihagee Exacta Varex IIa, circa 1962. I've owned this camera for six years, but this is the first time I've used it. It certainly didn't disappoint! I'll need to break this one out again, I think!

Hi folks, this is my first post on this page for a long, long time! I had a car show that was local to me, so having not shot anything on film for a long time, I headed down there with big plans.

Photographically, it was a disaster! I used 4 rolls of film in different cameras. One roll came out completely blank - that ended up being an operator error.

One roll had really bad bleed-through from the backing paper and was completely ruined.

Another roll was badly underexposed due to another operator error and not compensating for a 3-stop filter that was on that camera, DOH!

The last roll was shot on this beautiful old Rolleiflex T from around 1958. Even this roll is really bad - it's got dark splotches everywhere (that come out in the final photo as white splotches). Now, this was an expired film, but it has been cold-stored and shouldn't have this sort of thing going on. The only other thing I can think of is that the tap water here is of terrible quality, and may have played a part in the poor final result.

Lesson learned - I'll only be using distilled water for film development from now on!

Enjoy these bodgy photos 🙂

Something a little different... A glass dry plate photo, taken on a Linhof Technika camera. This is 1890s technology that can still compete with the sharpness of today's digital cameras. Old school!

After receiving a shipment of 127 films recently, I thought I'd load up one of my Kodak Vest Pocket Autographics and go for a wander around my hometown. I've never used these cameras and wasn't too hopeful that I'd get any kind of decent result.

Composition was really difficult because the mirror in the little viewfinder has just about completely disintegrated.

For a little pocket camera that is over 100 years old I think it did a pretty good job!

We spend so much time with our heads buried in a screen. There's a lot to be said for just leaving the phone at home, getting out, and just paying attention to your surroundings. The phone will still be there when you get home, and I'll bet that it didn't even miss you....

A beautiful and peaceful sunrise at the Tuncurry Rockpool this morning.
