I've been shooting a few more bands, lately, and a lot more of it has been video.
My RØDE Microphones Wireless GO II have been great for the most part. Capturing ambient sounds has been amasing, and the ability to conduct interviews without wires... well, anyone who has ever had to run an extension lead to the vacuum to clean the car has some idea of what I am talking about.
But a few times, tracks have clipped. Granted, its usually when I am down at Singing Bird Studios grabbing footage of the likes of Crusty Kill Squad 666, Blame Your Gods or kolostomy bag, to name a few. All of these guys like to play with the volume set to 11. Whilst the sound is clear, its LOUD!
So now I have added the Wireless Pro kit to my collection to help capture those bits that have previously made audio unusable.
Why the RØDE Wireless Pro you may ask?
The answer is simple - studio quality audio with usable accessories. The price is pretty damn attractive too!
I did also look at comparative models in other brands, and the closest was the DJI Mic 3 kit. A great kit which also offers similar features such as 32 bit float.
Multiple online comparisons all said similar things: RØDE's audio quality was better, as too was the price.
Personally, I also found the Lavs supplied with the RØDE Wireless Pro to be a great accessory to use. DJ'S argument is their mics are small and discreet, which they are to some extent. Yet taping a RØDE lav to a chest can be about as discreet as you can get! For some of my jobs, that is a must. And knowing I have that audio being captured in studio quality that can be broadcast is a big goal kicker for me, also.
That all said, if you're a vlogger, you may find the DJI kit to be perfect for you. But id personally also suggest checking out the Wireless Pro and RØDE's other range regardless. Not only are they great products, they're also an Australian company with many of their premium products hand made here on home soil. That's got to be good for our economy. 👍
A big thanks to Anthony, Gav and the team at Peninsula Camera for their support. I've been a customer there for over a decade now and the one thing they dont advertise is the outstanding customer service and help they give naturally. But you'll find that out for yourself when you go there.
